PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The ideal candidate will have a background in dry cleaning. As a Presser, you will be responsible for ensuring that garments are pressed to perfection, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation, and maintaining production counts. Your role is crucial in providing exceptional service to our clients while contributing to the overall efficiency of our operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Operate pressing machines and equipment to press garments, linens, and other textiles.
• Know the basics of pressing and be able to adapt to the challenges of properly finishing new and seasonal fashion styles and fabrics.
• Accurately and efficiently press and iron garments and textiles by hand or using machine steam and vacuum systems.
• Learn and master the basic operations of the specific pressing station(s) assigned, understanding the garments commonly processed at each station.
• Follow all company standards, procedures, and safety practices to ensure quality and consistency in garment finishing.
• Inspect garments prior to and after pressing to ensure quality standards are met; apply finishes such as stain guard, wrinkle release, or other protective coatings as needed.
• Ensure pressing equipment is properly maintained, reporting any malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly to the supervisor.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety and cleanliness guidelines.
• Collaborate with team members and management to meet daily production goals and quality benchmarks.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
• Previous experience in a dry-cleaning facility with pressing experience required (minimum 1 year preferred).
• Knowledge of various fabrics and garment construction.
• Ability to operate steam presses, vacuum tables, and other finishing equipment safely and effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to follow verbal and written instructions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for pressing and handling garments
SCHEDULE HOURS
• 10am start time until daily workload completion.
• Rotational weekends and holidays.
• Schedules will fluctuate based on need.
