Job description

Intrepid Museum is seeking a talented Jr. Web Designer to support the ongoing evolution of our museum’s website. In this role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our website experience – from building and deploying new pages to implementing front-end features and ensuring the site remains up-to-date. You’ll also contribute to broader digital marketing efforts, including email campaigns, SEO, and performance tracking.

This role reports to the Director of New Media and works closely with cross-functional teams including developers, internal stakeholders, and IT to deliver high-quality digital experiences.

This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days on-site and 2 days remote per week.

Salary: $80,000

The essential duties include but are not limited to:

● Build, update, and maintain website pages using Drupal 10 and other web technologies in accordance with interdepartmental requests and institutional needs

● Support email marketing campaigns and digital initiatives

● Maintain visual consistency and a seamless user experience across Drupal-powered public-facing features while adhering to brand guidelines.

● Implement SEO best practices to improve visibility and performance

● Manage Google Analytics to track website and campaign performance and produce reports for internal review

● Ensure code quality, accessibility, and cross-browser/device compatibility for all web updates

● Troubleshoot site maintenance issues as they arise

● Stay current with emerging web technologies and industry trends

The ideal candidate will have a 4-year degree in multimedia/graphic design or advertising communications required for this position. Museum and/or Cultural institutional experience is a plus. Knowledge in principles of web design, and fundamental understanding of typography and design foundation. Understanding of SEO best practices (a plus). Three (3) or more years of experience in developing websites, landing pages, expertise and familiarity with Drupal 9 (a must), HTML5, CSS, JQuery, and JavaScript or other forms of web-based development. Three (3) or more years of general Graphic Design experience using Adobe Creative Suite. Familiarity with building and managing a content management system (CMS) including managing regular site updates and back-end upgrades. Troubleshoot site-loading delays. Implement site changes and technical business units feedback as it is finalized into deliverables. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail. Clear and concise communication skills—both written and verbal. Excellent time and project management skills. Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues. Up-to-date experience with international web protocols, standards, and technologies. Able to multitask, with the ability to meet multiple deadlines for a number of projects simultaneously. Must have a team-oriented attitude, with excellent interpersonal communication skills. Should be creative, analytical thinkers who can tell a story using all the tools currently available in the industry. Experience preparing briefings and status reports for management.
