Drop Ship Manager
About Fleet Farm
Fleet Farm is a leading Midwest retailer serving customers across a wide range of categories, including outdoor recreation, sporting goods, automotive, hardware, home improvement, and everyday essentials. Our ecommerce business continues to grow, creating opportunities to expand our online assortment and give customers access to products beyond what we can stock in our stores and distribution centers.
Position Summary
The Drop Ship Manager will lead and grow Fleet Farm's drop ship program, expanding our online assortment while delivering a strong customer experience, supplier performance, and operational excellence.
This role will oversee supplier strategy, onboarding, fulfillment performance, inventory availability, supplier scorecards, and continuous process improvement. You'll work closely with Merchandising, eCommerce, Supply Chain, Vendor Management, IT, Customer Service, and Finance to identify new supplier opportunities, launch products, improve fulfillment performance, and build scalable processes.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of eCommerce, supplier management, merchandising, and operations and can turn data and relationships into measurable business results.
What You'll Do
Drop Ship Program Leadership
  • Lead the day-to-day management and continued growth of Fleet Farm's drop ship program.
  • Develop strategies to expand online assortment through strategic supplier partnerships.
  • Identify opportunities to improve sales, profitability, customer experience, and operational performance.
  • Establish processes and standards that allow the drop ship business to scale effectively.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging capabilities across ecommerce, marketplaces, fulfillment, and drop ship.

Supplier Strategy & Management
  • Identify and evaluate potential drop ship supplier partners in partnership with Merchandising and Category Management.
  • Lead supplier onboarding, implementation, testing, and operational readiness.
  • Establish expectations for supplier performance, fulfillment, inventory accuracy, and customer experience.
  • Develop supplier scorecards and conduct regular business reviews.
  • Build strong supplier relationships while holding partners accountable to agreed-upon performance standards.
  • Partner with suppliers to identify and resolve recurring operational issues.

Fulfillment & Operational Performance
  • Monitor supplier performance including order acceptance, fulfillment speed, shipping compliance, cancellation rates, inventory accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through operational and business performance data.
  • Work cross-functionally to resolve fulfillment, inventory, product, and customer experience issues.
  • Develop and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce operational issues.
  • Support promotional events, seasonal initiatives, new supplier launches, and assortment expansions.

eCommerce & Merchandising Partnership
  • Partner with Merchandising and Category Management to identify assortment gaps and new vendor opportunities.
  • Identify online assortment "white space" and recommend products or supplier partnerships to fill customer needs.
  • Partner with Digital Merchandising to ensure product content, inventory availability, and assortment presentation support online conversion.
  • Support the launch of new products and suppliers across the ecommerce experience.
  • Use customer and product performance insights to identify opportunities for assortment expansion.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Process Improvement
  • Partner with Supply Chain, IT, Digital Product, Customer Service, Finance, and Merchandising to improve the drop ship experience.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives that improve automation, operational efficiency, and scalability.
  • Partner with IT and business teams on system enhancements, integrations, testing, and new capabilities.
  • Develop documentation, processes, and performance standards to support long-term program growth.
  • Use data and analytics to make recommendations and communicate performance to leadership and business partners.

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Merchandising, eCommerce, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in eCommerce, supply chain, merchandising, vendor management, operations, digital retail, or a related field.
  • Experience managing supplier or vendor relationships and holding external partners accountable to performance expectations.
  • Experience with drop ship, vendor-direct, extended aisle, marketplace, ecommerce fulfillment, or a similar business model is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using Excel or similar tools to analyze operational and business performance.
  • Experience developing KPIs, scorecards, or performance reporting.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple cross-functional initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with both internal stakeholders and external supplier partners.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and turn them into scalable solutions.
  • Experience implementing or working with ecommerce platforms, integrations, or digital retail technology is a plus.
  • Future or previous people leadership experience is preferred.
