Job description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Buyer III to support a growing purchasing workload in Wisconsin. This long-term contract/contract-to-permanent position is ideal for someone who enjoys high-volume transactional buying, maintaining accurate purchase data, and building strong coordination across sales, inventory, planning, and vendor partners. The role focuses heavily on drop-ship activity and distribution purchasing, with an emphasis on timely follow-up, clear communication, and practical process improvements that strengthen daily operations.

Responsibilities: • Manage day-to-day purchasing activity for parts and finished distribution products, ensuring orders are placed accurately and on schedule. • Oversee drop-ship transactions with close attention to order status, delivery details, and coordination with the appropriate internal and external contacts. • Create, review, and communicate purchase orders to vendors and internal stakeholders to maintain smooth order flow. • Work extensively in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to update purchasing records, maintain accurate dates and fields, and support data reliability. • Partner with sales, inventory, and planning teams to resolve missing order details and keep purchasing activities moving without delay. • Build effective working relationships across internal business units, including company-to-company purchasing interactions, to improve responsiveness and alignment. • Follow up professionally with sales teams when order information is incomplete, ensuring the necessary details are obtained in a timely manner. • Identify opportunities to improve purchasing communication and everyday workflow efficiency within a largely transactional environment.

• Experience in purchasing, buying, or supply chain support within a transactional order management environment.
• Working knowledge of supply chain operations, including purchase order processing, vendor coordination, and logistics follow-up.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a comparable ERP system.
• Familiarity with drop-ship processes and distribution-focused purchasing activities.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with sales, inventory, planning, and supplier contacts.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate system records and order data.
• Clear communication skills, including the ability to follow up on incomplete requests with tact and persistence.
• Background in inventory analysis or supply chain logistics is preferred.
