Job description

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Transportation Driver to support our individuals by providing reliable transportation to and from appointments, day programs, company sites, and approved community activities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate patience, professionalism, and strong communication skills while ensuring the comfort and safety of all passengers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport individuals to and from scheduled appointments, day programs, and approved destinations
  • Assist individuals entering and exiting the vehicle when needed (including mobility support if required)
  • Ensure all passengers are properly secured using seatbelts and/or safety equipment
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and well-functioning vehicle at all times
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues promptly
  • Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company driving policies
  • Maintain accurate transportation logs, mileage records, and trip documentation
  • Communicate professionally with staff, individuals, and supervisors regarding schedules or delays
  • Ensure punctual pick-up and drop-off times
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client information in compliance with HIPAA standards
  • Respond calmly and appropriately to individual's needs or behavioral situations during transport
  • Provide excellent customer service skills to individuals, their families and sites for drop-off

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Minimum 2–3 years of driving experience preferred
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening
  • Must be at least 21 years of age (or per company insurance requirements)
  • Reliable, insured transportation if required by role structure
  • Strong punctuality and time management skills
  • Ability to safely operate a company vehicle or assigned transport vehicle
  • Basic understanding of GPS/navigation systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or patient transport
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or behavioral health conditions
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Defensive driving certification
  • Strong interpersonal and de-escalation skills
  • Bilingual abilities (a plus but not required)

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to sit and drive for extended periods
  • Ability to assist passengers with light physical support (walking assistance, vehicle entry/exit)
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs (e.g., mobility aids or client belongings)
  • Exposure to varying weather and road conditions
