As of Sep 6, 2026, the average yearly pay for drone shows in the United States is $84,411.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $65,500.00 and $90,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are drone shows and how do they work?

Drone shows are coordinated aerial displays using multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) equipped with LED lights to create dynamic images, animations, and patterns in the sky. These shows are designed and programmed using specialized software that synchronizes the movement and lighting of each drone to music or narration. Drone shows are often used for entertainment at public events, festivals, and celebrations as a modern alternative or complement to traditional fireworks.

What are some common challenges faced when coordinating drone shows, and how can they be overcome?

Coordinating drone shows often involves challenges such as managing precise timing, ensuring regulatory compliance, and addressing unpredictable weather conditions. Successful teams use advanced software for meticulous pre-show planning and maintain strong communication with airspace regulators. Additionally, thorough equipment checks and contingency plans help mitigate risks, making adaptability and teamwork essential for smooth show execution.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a drone show operator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Drone Show Operator, you need a solid background in UAV piloting, programming, and knowledge of flight regulations, typically supported by a Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate or similar qualification. Familiarity with drone fleet management software, 3D animation tools, and GPS navigation systems is essential. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and effective teamwork are key soft skills for planning and executing complex aerial displays. These capabilities ensure safe, visually stunning, and compliant drone shows that meet client expectations and regulatory standards.

How to become a drone shows operator?

To become a drone shows operator, you should gain experience with drone flight and programming, often through relevant certifications or training in unmanned aerial systems (UAS). Familiarity with software used for choreographing drone displays and understanding safety regulations are also important for this role.

Job description

Customer Success Manager – Spray DronesPosition Summary
DMR Technologies is seeking a relationship-driven Customer Success Manager – Spray Drones to become the primary point of contact for our growing network of agricultural equipment dealers, commercial operators, and drone customers.
Once a customer purchases a DMR spray drone—or a dealership joins our dealer network—your mission begins.
You will help customers confidently launch, operate, demonstrate, support, and grow their drone programs. Whether you're onboarding a 20-location agricultural dealership, training a first-time drone owner, assisting a commercial applicator, or helping troubleshoot a field issue, you'll play a critical role in ensuring our customers succeed long after the sale.
This position combines customer success, account management, technical support, product demonstrations, and relationship building into one highly visible role.
What You'll DoCustomer Success
  •  Serve as the primary relationship manager for assigned dealer and customer accounts.
  •  Build long-term partnerships through proactive communication and regular follow-up.
  •  Ensure customers remain engaged and successful after purchasing DMR equipment.
  •  Identify opportunities for additional equipment, accessories, training, and services.
Dealer Development
  •  Onboard new agricultural equipment dealers.
  •  Conduct dealership launch meetings.
  •  Help dealers develop their drone sales strategy.
  •  Train dealership personnel on DMR products.
  •  Support dealers during their first demonstrations and customer deliveries.
Customer Training
  •  Conduct product demonstrations.
  •  Deliver train-the-trainer sessions.
  •  Help first-time drone operators become confident users.
  •  Assist with startup, maintenance, firmware updates, and best practices.
  •  Support both in-person and virtual training.
Customer Support
Be the first call when customers need help.
Examples include:
  •  "My drone won't arm."
  •  "A nozzle broke."
  •  "I'm getting an error message."
  •  "How do I update firmware?"
  •  "Can someone help me quote a spray job?"
  •  "How do I calibrate my aircraft?"
You won't be expected to know every answer—but you will own the customer relationship and coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Production, or Technical Support until issues are resolved.
Travel & Field Support
  •  Travel throughout the United States to support dealers and customers.
  •  Conduct site visits and product demonstrations.
  •  Attend trade shows and customer events.
  •  Assist Sales with key account launches and strategic opportunities.
Expected travel: 25–50%
