Position Overview

Two Directions, Inc. is a training contractor for the S.C.T.C.A. Tribal TANF program. We are a special purpose organization which places primary emphasis on in classroom instruction for Tribal TANF participants. Faculty members are expected to demonstrate and maintain competence in each of the following areas throughout their employment. The Instructor performs other job related duties as assigned.

Life Skills: SCTCA has made this a mandatory class for all TANF students. The class consists of multiple units which include Goal Setting, Building Strong
Families & Relationships, Social Skills, Survival Skills, Employability,
Budget/Financial Literacy, Consumerism, Health and Nutrition, Educational
Literacy, Parenting, and Emergency Preparedness. Life Skills class topics are coordinated with classes and information available through the Indian Health
Council departments and other community programs. Additional topics of discussion may be added as needed including guest speakers and/or field trips.

Essential Job Functions

I. Mastery of Subject Matter

· Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of their field or discipline.

· Display ability to interpret and evaluate the theories of their field or discipline.

· Connect their subject matter with related fields.

· Stay current in their subject matter through professional development, through involvement in professional organizations, and attending professional meetings, conference or workshops.

· Learn and use technology to enhance teaching and the educational experience when appropriate.

II. Teaching Performance

· Teach a course load appropriate to the Life Skills field or discipline.

· Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning.

· Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students.

· Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student’s needs.

· Employ available instructional technology, i.e. the Internet, telecourse, interactive technology, when appropriate.

· Encourage the development of communication skills and higher order thinking skills through appropriate assignments.

· Contribute to the selection and development of instructional materials in accordance with course objectives.

· Must plan, organize, Instruct and prepare class room

· Maintain detailed records and reports

· Work directly with Two Directions manager

· Plan field trips, budgets, and format classes

· Keeps inventory of class materials

· Basic computer skills

· Operate a variety of office equipment, such as copier, computer, printer, fax, calculator, etc.

· Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion

· Complete student calendars and sign in sheets daily and accurately

· Keep clear and complete records of attendance

· Complete student paperwork, calendars, and monthly reports

· Provide students with homework for each class

III. Evaluation of Student Learning

· Establish and follow meaningful learning objectives.

· Develop and explain methods that fairly measure student progress toward course objectives.

· Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student work promptly to promote maximum learning.

· Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit final completion to administrator each Unit.

· Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and circumstances.

IV. Support of Two Directions, Inc. Policies and Procedures

· Teach classes as assigned in a multi-campus environment.

· Prepare, distribute, and submit syllabi and approved course outlines for all assigned sections in accordance with program and divisional policies.

· Maintain confidentiality of student information.

· Substitute for other instructors within field or discipline in case of absence. Or find a substitute for your class in case of own absence.

· Exercise stewardship of Two Directions, Inc. facilities and materials.

V. Participation in Program Activities

· Participate in meetings and events required by program administrators.

· Contribute to program and division curriculum development processes.

· Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in communication with students, colleagues, staff and administrators as an individual or on a team.

VI. Contribution to the Growth and Enhancement of Training Facility and

Programs

· Maintain familiarity with TANF goals, mission and long-range plans.

· Contribute to planning and development processes through appropriate mechanisms and channels if required.

· Maintain current instructional content and practices.

Essential Requirements

· Appropriate California Teaching Credential or Bachelor's degree in a job related area or any combination of education and experience that could likely provide the desired skills, knowledge, abilities and other personal characteristics is required for equivalency.

· Certifications related to position.

· Valid California Drivers License, Insurable, Reliable Transportation.

· Flexible Schedule.

· Must dress in clean, neat, office appropriate manner (dress code in policy and procedure manual.)
