Job description

Job Title

The position is responsible for delivering materials to job site locations in the most efficient and safest manner. Oversight of maintenance for assigned truck and working in yard as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Drive vehicles in order to transport materials to and from specified destinations
  • Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes in order to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition and DOT compliant
  • Load and unload trucks, move materials within yard or work site, or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or by yard truck
  • Obey traffic laws, and follow established traffic and transportation procedures
  • Read maps, and follow written and verbal geographic directions
  • Maintain records such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements in accordance with regulations
  • Perform emergency repairs such as installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains
  • Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles
  • Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations
  • Turn in receipts and money received from deliveries and fuel
  • Bunking jobs by stacking or assembling materials into bundles and then bands bundles together using banding machine and clincher
  • Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials to be moved
  • Loads materials onto vehicles and install strapping, bracing or padding to materials to prevent shifting or damage in transit
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee
  • Complies with Astro policies and procedures
Requirements

Knowledge of building materials and building process

  • Forklift certification with 90 days of employment is required by employer
  • Any combination of job related experience and/or training, which would produce the required knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Must have CDL Class B minimum
  • Astro provides on-the-job training

Weight & Lift Requirements
  • Must be able to lift at least 80lbs repeatedly
  • Lifting anything >100lbs requires additional personnel and utilizing a dolly or forklift if possible
