The Driver Examineris responsible forexamination work involving assessing applicants for driver's licencesin accordance withstandardsestablishedwith respect to knowledge, vision, driving, and physical capabilities. This includes testing applicants for all classes of driver's licences (i.e., Class 1 to Class 7) and endorsements (e.g., air brake, school bus, motorcycle). The Driver Examiner is responsible for coaching, educating, and encouraging unsuccessful road test applicants based on the driving skills demonstrated during the road test to increase their chance of success on the next road test and ensure they have a positive experience, even if they were not successful. The Driver Examineris responsible forcompleting interviews, delivering Traffic Safety Education presentations, and assessing driver safety when SGI Driver Programsdeemsnecessary. Work is performed at large examination centres, small examination centres, or from mobile units.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Administers and conducts written and oral examinations, vision screening, road tests for Class 1 through 7, and endorsements (e.g., air brake, school bus, heavy trailer, motorcycle).
Conducts investigations and interviews in connection with various programs (e.g., Driver Improvement Program, Graduated Driver's Licence, Fraud ID), makes recommendations, and prepares reports.
Answers routine inquiries and provides information to issuers, the public, and employees relating to driving inquiries, rules of the road, and interpretations.
Answers inquiries from the public, enforcement agencies, legal professionals, court officials, and other outside agenciesregardingdriver licensing and Class 1-4 driver training programs or instruction.
