Description

The Swing Driver operates a front load, roll off or box truck, servicing customers along an established route in the manner and sequence determined by Paper Retriever of Texas. Driver will transport loads to a designated receiving site (recycling plant or landfill). The Driver is responsible for operating the front load truck safely at all times, staying current and in compliance with all governmental regulations pertaining to trucking and waste operations. Drivers are expected to be respectful to coworkers and management and will provide courteous, professional service to all customers. 


 Duties and Essential Job Functions:

  • Determine the best, convenient drop off location for dumpster, to avoid property damage.
  • Cautiously operate hydraulic hand controls to lift/load Dumpster on/off truck.
  •  Secure the Dumpster Load, cover appropriately and account for weight shift before departing.
  • Ability to read route sheets and service each customer identified on the sheet or assigned by the dispatcher.
  • Perform daily pre and post trip inspections.
  • Interact courteously with your customers.
  • Other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Report any safety issues on standard reports.
  • Safely operate his or her heavy truck along his or her designated route and to the disposal site; read route sheet, follow map and service each customer as identified on the route sheet or as assigned by the dispatcher and/or supervisor.
  • Operate manual and/or automatic controls in accordance with Company safety policies and procedures to lift and load refuse, operate compactor and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
  •  Courteously interact with all customers, dispatchers and others on a daily basis to ensure all customer routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner.
  • Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers in accordance with applicable departmental procedures.
  • Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
  • Clean area around an accidental waste spill, ensuring adherence to all applicable safety standards and policies.
  • Continuously monitor the condition of the vehicle to ensure it is operationally ready at all times to minimize down time; clean waste from the packer blade and truck body (where appropriate) on each disposal trip.
  • Complete required route/productivity sheets, VCRs and other reports, as required.
  • Good customer services skills to meet and exceed customer expectations; acts in a professional, courteous and cooperative manner toward customers and co-workers; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness.
  • Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Ability to read route sheets and service each customer identified on the sheet or assigned by the dispatcher.
  • Other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Washing the interior and exterior of the solid waste collection truck.

Requirements

  • Class A or B Commercial Drivers License.
  • 2 or more years of commercial driving experience.
  • Preferable previous front load or roll off experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Record of safe driving for the past three (3) years as shown on current MVR, with no serious accidents or traffic violations
  • A valid Medical Card
  • Ability to work Monday - any day of the week.
