What is a driver settlement?

Driver settlements refer to the process of calculating and distributing the earnings owed to truck drivers or owner-operators by their employers or carriers. This process involves reviewing trip records, deductions, reimbursements, and pay rates to ensure drivers receive accurate compensation for their work. Settlements typically include details on loads hauled, miles driven, expenses, and any advances or charges. Drivers often receive settlement statements weekly or biweekly, which outline their gross pay and all deductions. Accurate settlements are crucial for transparency and trust between drivers and carriers.

What are some common challenges faced in a driver settlement role, and how can they be effectively managed?

Professionals in a Driver Settlement role often encounter challenges related to reconciling complex pay structures, resolving discrepancies in trip and payroll data, and ensuring timely payments to drivers. Effective management involves strong attention to detail, clear communication with both drivers and internal departments, and proficiency with settlement software. Building good relationships and proactively addressing issues can help prevent misunderstandings and improve overall efficiency in the settlement process.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a driver settlement specialist, and why are they important?

Job description

Position Summary:
We're growing fast and actively onboarding 50+ Owner-Operators to run consistent OTR freight across all 48 states under our active MC authority. All equipment types welcome: 26ft box trucks, reefers, flatbeds, hotshots, and semi-trucks (dry van/reefer/flatbed trailers). This is a true independent contractor opportunity — you run your business, we keep you loaded, and we have the freight volume to back it up.

Pay & Structure:
  • 80% of load gross pay to you, weekly settlements.
  • No hidden splits — you'll always know exactly what a load pays before you accept it.
  • Fuel card provided with discount network access at partner truck stops (helps your cash flow and cuts your per-gallon cost — fuel spend is deducted from your settlement, this isn't a subsidy, it's a convenience + discount).

Equipment We're Onboarding:
  • 26ft Box Trucks (non-CDL and CDL welcome, liftgate a plus).
  • Reefer trailers/trucks.
  • Flatbed.
  • Hotshot rigs.
  • Semi-trucks (sleeper or day cab).

What You Need:
  • Your own truck (owned or on a compliant lease) matching one of the equipment types above.
  • Valid CDL where required by your equipment/state (non-CDL box trucks under 26,001 lbs GVWR may not require one — confirm your state's rules).
  • No authority needed — lease onto our active MC and start hauling under our operating authority.
  • Current insurance meeting FMCSA minimums.
  • Clean driving record and background check.
  • Willingness to run OTR (multi-state, extended time away from home).

What You Get:
  • 80% load pay, no games.
  • Fuel card with discount network access.
  • Consistent freight — we're scaling fast and have the volume to keep your wheels loaded, not sitting.
  • Weekly settlements.
  • Dedicated dispatch support for load booking and issue resolution.
  • Independent contractor flexibility — you run your business.
  • Get in early with a growing carrier — more freight and lanes as we expand.

How to Apply:
Apply now with your equipment type, CDL status (if applicable), and authority status (active MC or need to lease on). We'll follow up to walk through lanes, freight volume, and onboarding.

This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity. Owner-Operators are responsible for their own fuel, maintenance, and insurance costs; fuel card provides cash-flow convenience and network discounts, deducted from settlement.
