HIGHWAY OPERATIONS MANAGER

Job Description:

The Highway Operations Manager will be responsible for planning and supervising all operations for A-Core's Arizona Highway Division. This includes handling all day-to-day operations for the highway division for Arizona and the neighboring states. The Highway Operations Manager is responsible for the effective and successful management of labor, productivity, quality control, and to ensure a safe and efficient highway operations. Additionally, this position will be scheduling highway work and determining the right personnel and equipment to complete the work in the most efficient manner.

The ideal candidate needs to be a critical thinker who can analyze the situations and make sound decisions. The candidate would be well-versed in construction processes and procedures and able to coordinate a team of different specialties to achieve the best results in the allotted timeframe. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and great organizational skills. The goal will be to ensure all projects are delivered on time according to requirements and within planned budgets.

Responsibilities:

  • Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
  • Plan operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met
  • Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues
  • Submit final approval of timecards and regular progress reports
  • Communicate effectively with Regional Highway Manager
  • Correspond with clients and vendors in coordinating new and ongoing projects
  • Attend highway meetings and job walks, as needed
  • Perform due diligence and plan the execution of projects
  • Manage hiring, terminations, and employee retention within the region
  • Empower and motivate employees to find new strategies for improving the efficiency of the operation.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ Years Experience as Operating Superintendent (Required)
  • Must pass Drug Screen (Required)
  • Valid Driver's License with good driving record (Required)
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical
  • Commercial Driver's License - highly recommended
  • Pass a background check (for some projects)
  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles
  • Be able to learn pricing and billing with moderate computer skills
  • Experience green and rehab saw and seal, large depth sawing (24'deep)
  • Experience with hot pour, silicone 890 and 888, compression seals
  • General knowledge of reading project plans, specifications and materials
  • General highway equipment repair knowledge
  • Ability to follow set and agreed upon processes
  • Must have great communication, scheduling, delegating, problem solving and leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, self-motivated and punctual
  • Availability to travel, as needed
  • Must relocate for those not already in Arizona
