Job description

Operations Manager, Distribution

Location: Melville, NY 11747
Compensation: $80 – $93K per year (base) + up to 15% annual target bonus potential
This is an exempt position.

Role Overview

Lead the Distribution team, partner with Service and Support functions, and ensure safe, efficient, and reliable delivery services while driving operational excellence and financial performance.

Primary Job Accountabilities
  • People Leadership & Development – lead and coach a high‑performing team, manage engagement and retention.
  • Safety Ownership – foster a safety‑first culture, enforce OSHA, DOT and company standards, and reinforce safe driving behavior.
  • Workforce Planning & Talent Management – recruit, hire, onboard, schedule, manage performance, and retain staff.
  • Fleet & Asset Management – oversee fleet maintenance, perform pre/post‑trip inspections, preventive upkeep, and uptime/downtime monitoring.
  • Customer Ownership – create a customer‑focused culture, resolve issues, and support retention.
  • Distribution Operations Execution – oversee delivery of fresh cooking oil and collection of used oil, maintain service levels, optimize routes, and reconcile deliveries.
  • Inventory Management – maintain accurate inventory, conduct cycle counts, and coordinate tanker deliveries.
  • Financial Performance & Operational Discipline – partner with the General Manager to meet KPI targets, drive productivity, and maintain cost discipline.
Education, Experience & Competencies
  • Minimum Qualifications – 2–4 years in operations, distribution, or logistics; proven people or operations leadership; coaching ability; knowledge of safety regulations; data‑driven performance management; high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred Qualifications – 1–2+ years of direct people management; logistics or route‑based distribution experience; familiarity with DOT compliance, driver operations, scheduling or workforce planning; KPI‑driven performance experience; bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
