The right candidate will join a vibrant team of journalists who remain on the cutting edge of this constantly changing field.
Job Description:
The News Producer's duties include assembling daily newscasts and assisting with management of the station's news website and other digital entities. The producer takes an active role in daily editorial discussions, builds the rundown, writes news scripts, edits the video, creates graphics, communicates with the team, and times the broadcast. You'll be expected to function within the framework of a research-driven news department that emphasizes source cultivation, enterprise storytelling and breaking news. Employee must have the flexibility to work across multiple platforms and could be called upon to make calls on news stories, work a beat, web edit, etc.
Qualifications:
The right candidate must be a strong writer, have good organizational skills and superior news judgment. Employee will have an eye for video, graphics and the elements that make a live television show more watchable. The candidate must work well under pressure, work well with other people and meet strict deadlines. A college degree in journalism, communication or a related field is preferred. Previous newsroom experience is a plus. The position could require operation of a company vehicle or a personal vehicle for business use. Candidate must have a valid Missouri driver's license and pass a drug test, background and MVR check.
