Join our growing team! Welders Supply Company is a privately-owned distributor of commercial, industrial and medical gases; dry ice; and welding equipment serving northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. Founded in 1938, the company has facilities in Beloit, Big Bend, West Allis and Burlington, Wisconsin; and Rockford and Crystal Lake, Illinois.

Job Summary: The CDL Class B Truck Driver/Store Assistant (CDL/SA) performs hot runs of merchandise to customers at locations surrounding the Big Bend, WI area. In addition the CDL/SA assists with the day-to-day store operations including warehousing, shipping and receiving and addressing the needs of walk-in customers. The CDL/SA works with the Store Manager, outside shipping vendors and the company’s professional drivers to carry out the correct, timely and safe delivery of essential products to customers.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist with the opening and closing of the store and the unloading and loading of trucks
  • Perform daily forklift and truck inspections
  • Deliver products to customer locations
  • Assist with walk in customers (for example, by exchanging customer cylinders) and with call in customers by addressing their questions, needs or concerns
  • Assist with receiving product, checking product into inventory using company’s Epicor Prophet 21 and TrackAbout systems, and stock product in warehouse
  • Assist with reviewing customer orders and drawing products from inventory
  • Pull, pack, prepare packing slips and ship orders in an accurate and timely manner
  • Clean and organize warehouse space and stock according to principles of 5S
  • In conjunction with the Store Manager, monitor inventory levels and create guidelines for purchasing and stocking products
  • Resolve issues pertaining to operations and notify manager of problems that you cannot resolve
  • Participate in safety meetings and in the timely and effective implementation of the company’s Safety Program at the branch facility, helping to ensure the branch’s OSHA and other safety requirements are met
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management to ensure safety, operational efficiency and customer satisfaction


Performer Requirements:

Possess forklift license and CDL Class B driver’s license with hazardous material and airbrake endorsements

Have safe driving record as exhibited by state MVR reports

Be mentally alert, adaptable and flexible in dealing with customer needs

Complete basic mathematical calculations and accurately fill out paperwork

Be able to transact over the counter cash and credit card sales

Effectively plan and organize the warehouse, truck loads and delivery schedules

Be fluent in the English language and written communication (Spanish as a second language a plus.)

Freely traverse company premises and lift or move products up to 500 pounds using the appropriate support and lifting equipment

Work in diverse indoor and outdoor weather conditions

Ascend and descend ladders, stairs and trucks while moving product

Bend, reach and reposition self to move materials and shift equipment


Equipment Used: Class B commercial delivery vehicle; forklift, hand cart, hand tools, computer, cell phone, GPS nav. system and calculator


Work Hours: M-F 7:30 am - 5:00 pm; before/after-hours may be needed at times
