Job description

SUMMARY: Safely transport students on daily routes and other transportation operations while following CDE, CDL and district policies and any other relevant state or federal regulations.  This position is required to drive varying and directly assigned daily transportation routes and substitute for varying routes and district operations as needed. This position will be required to safely operate all department vehicles as assigned to support department and district operations and emergency district needs during all hours of the day and all types of weather/traffic conditions as needed. Learn and maintain knowledge of state and federal transportation laws and regulations and Thompson Schools District policies and procedures.  Provide customer service and resolve operational route needs and concerns with department and district staff. Provide any needed support to the department and district in emergency situations.
 Route Driver classes for the 2025-26 school year will be held throughout the year.  The transportation department will facilitate the interview process.  New drivers with the department will earn a $300 bonus for completion of 240 hours (pre-service training will be included in the 240 hours).

On July 1, 2025 the starting rate of pay is $25.68 per hour plus benefits. Available routes are between 4 and 8 hours per day. Range 21 ($25.68 - $41.81) - Classified Salary Schedule
