Job Summary: RN - MedSurg/Tele
- Facility Information:
- Location: 777 Hemlock St, Macon, GA 31201
- 637 licensed beds
- Level 1 Trauma, Teaching Hospital, Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center
- Unit Information:
- Med Surg/Telemetry units, 20-36 beds per unit
- Patient population: General med/surg and telemetry patients
- Patient ratio: RN 1:4-6, LPN 1:4-6, CNA up to 1:14
- Experience and Traveler Policy:
- Minimum 2 years Med/Tele RN experience required
- First-time travelers accepted
- Licensure/Certifications:
- BLS required
- ACLS preferred (required to pass EKG competency during onboarding)
- Med Surg certification a plus
- Required Clinical Skills:
- Proficient in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucometer use
- Experience with common drips: insulin, heparin, and all cardiac drips (must be proficient)
- Ability to titrate drips to heart rate (not BP)
- Department Support:
- CNA assistance for vitals, glucose checks, ADLs, patient safety, mobility
- Unit secretary (7a-11p), house-wide call secretary (11p-7a)
- Charge nurse and resource nurse available
- 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist support
- Central telemetry monitoring
- Lab collect phlebotomy; RNs draw off CVLs; PICC team available
- Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: EPIC
- IV Pump: Alaris
- Medication dispensing: Pyxis
- Monitors: Phillips
- Other: VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips
- Float Requirements:
- Required to float to all Med/Tele units as part of float pool
- Orientation:
- 1 day general orientation with educational modules
- 2 days departmental orientation
- Other Information:
- Scrub color: RN - Navy; LPN - Ceil Blue
