Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a cancer hospital oncology unit requiring 2+ years of acute care RN experience and Epic proficiency.

Details
  • Med/Surg Oncology unit within a cancer hospital and research facility
  • Night shift 3x12 hour rotation from 19:00 to 7:30
  • May rotate between day and night shifts based on department scheduling needs reviewed every 4-week period
  • Patient population includes oncology patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy administration
  • Cares for soft tissue malignancy patients receiving diagnostic services, chemotherapy, and symptom management
  • Manages patients with comorbidities and disease-related symptom progression
  • Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
  • Uses B450 monitors with GE telemetry system, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
  • Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Acute care experience must be current and within the last 12 months in the specialty applied for
  • Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Skilled in accessing and managing ports
  • Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs
  • Arterial line management experience required
  • Blood product administration experience required
  • Central line and PICC line care/management experience required
  • Experience assisting with chest tube insertion/removal required
  • High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) management experience required
  • Interpretation of ABGs required
  • Chemotherapy administration experience preferred
  • BiPAP/CPAP management experience preferred
  • Tracheostomy care/management experience required
  • PCA medication management preferred
  • Insulin drip titration experience preferred
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or Supervisor and the second acceptable from a Charge RN; no coworker references accepted
Additional Information
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Previous travel experience preferred but candidates new to travel nursing are welcome to apply
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Provide continuous cardiac monitoring and symptom management for oncology patients
  • Assist with diagnostic services and chemotherapy administration
  • Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon signing contract due to state requirements
  • Candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location as soon as possible after booking
  • Candidates at extreme distances from Ohio will be mailed a fingerprinting packet requiring urgent completion
  • RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment only after 6 months away from the facility
  • Current employees are ineligible to work as a traveler at this health system
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
