Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac PCU/Stepdown position requiring telemetry and cardiac drip experience, working night shifts every other weekend at a Level II trauma hospital in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Details
- Work in the Medical Surgical Telemetry unit (Cardiac IMCU/Stepdown floor) of a 225-bed specialty care hospital
- 36-bed unit serving a cardiac, PCU/stepdown, and trauma patient population
- Common diagnoses and procedures include chest pain, VATS, stroke/TIA, pre- and post-open heart surgery, pacemakers, heart blocks, vascular conditions, and CHF
- Patient ratios are 1:5–6 for cardiac patients and 1:3–4 for PCU/stepdown patients
- Telemetry monitoring equipment in use; EMR is Cerner
- 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Floating is required
- On-call may be required in low-census situations
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active MI RN license required
- Active AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 1 year of PCU or stepdown experience required
- Hands-on experience with cardiac patient populations, chest tubes, cardiac monitoring, and cardiac drips required
- Associate degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher required
- Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
- Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 60 miles from the facility
Additional Information
- Preferred experience includes PCU/stepdown patient populations and low-level ICU skills
- Strong teamwork skills are essential for success in this unit
- Scrub color must be blue or navy; blue jeans are not permitted
- Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
- Candidates who are currently employed full-time elsewhere are not eligible
