Job description

Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) is currently seeking full-time experienced Construction Inspectors for our Alliance, OH office.


Qualified candidates must have prior construction inspection experience and relevant industry certifications. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Pay Rate: $18-26 based on experience

Construction Inspector Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Observe and document construction activities to assure compliance with technical specifications
  • Monitor and test the moisture and density of soils using a nuclear density testing gauge
  • Testing of concrete for slump, air content and unit weight
  • Testing of asphalt for temperature and compaction
  • Assist laboratory and drilling personnel as requested
  • Use civil drawings, project specifications and geotechnical reports effectively
  • Complete daily reports, testing documents, timesheets and expense reports completely and in a timely manner
  • Handle and maintain company assigned equipment

The workday begins at 7am with likely overtime. Salary is paid on an hourly basis for actual hours worked. Overtime is paid at a rate of 1.5 times the hourly rate when the total weekly hours exceed 40 hours. Mileage reimbursement is provided (at the current IRS reimbursement rate).  Must have a reliable vehicle able to transport testing equipment on construction sites, good driving record, like working with people, and enjoy working outdoors.

GTA will provide you with Personal Protective Equipment, which includes High Visibility Vest, Hard Hat, Gloves, and Safety Glasses.

Construction Inspector - Requirements:

  • Reliable vehicle, good driving record and valid driver's license
  • Physical capability to carry equipment/samples >50 lbs on uneven ground
  • High school diploma/GED with good writing and math skills
  • Roadway construction experience (desired not required)
  • Required: Possess one or more of the following current certifications
    • NICET
    • ACI
    • APNGA
    • NETTCP
    • ICC
    • FPO

This position may require standing for extended durations as well as repetitive motions such as lifting or hammering. The employee must have the ability to use their hands to handle, finger or feel; reach, climb or balance; crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit, see and smell; including close, distance and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus. The employee will regularly lift and/or move 60 pounds; and occasionally move 80 pounds or more (such as a loaded wheelbarrow of concrete or soil samples).
