Description
Summary:
This position is a 9-month, faculty position in the Visual, Performing and Communication Arts Department in the College of Education, Humanities, and Behavioral Sciences. This position will be expected to work at the undergraduate level and be able to work closely with other programs within the college. This position will enrich the curriculum in significant ways through expertise in their field and innovative approaches in integrating research into a curriculum. The rank and tenure-status of position is negotiable based on qualifications.
Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for teaching foundation art courses, painting courses, figure drawing and fashion illustration courses on a rotating basis, and art appreciation courses at the undergraduate level.
- Responsible for student advising, recruiting and participation in program building and committee work.
- Be actively involved in scholarly activity/creative works.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Position Requirements (including years of experience, certifications, licenses, etc.):
- M.F.A. in drawing or painting is required at the time of appointment.
- Must have a demonstrable commitment to public engagement and exhibition record.
- A record of successful teaching.

- Strong foundational skills in drawing and painting techniques.
- Broad background in drawing and painting within a figurative or contemporary practice.
