Description

 SUMMARY: Responsible for leading and coordinating the activities of assembly workers, including assemblers, machine operators, and helpers, to ensure that customer service requirements are met, and orders assembled and processed within established timelines.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Directly leads up to 10 employees in the Assembly Department. Delivers lead responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; assisting in appraising performance; assisting in rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Enforce safety and sanitation regulations.

Read and analyze work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current productions estimates and outputs.

Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.

Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.

Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.

Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees or assign employees to experienced workers for training.

Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.

Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.

Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers.

Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.

Other duties as deem necessary.

Requirements

 SKILLS REQUIRED include the following:

Excellent communication skills. 

Ability to coordinate the work and activities of others. 

Persuasive ability to motivate staff. 

Ability to monitor work progress; change/revise and act as needed.

Must be PC literate (MS Office) and have strong reporting capabilities (Excel), organizational and interpersonal skills.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts to solve problems. Must be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and proportions to practical situations.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

High school diploma or GED; 2-5 years leadership experience in manufacturing/distribution/assembly environment.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk, or hear. The employee is occasionally exposed to manufacturing smells and/or or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; the employee also will be working near moving mechanical parts.Â
