CNC Tube Bender Setup/OperatorJob Overview

We are seeking an experienced CNC Tube Bender Setup/Operator to set up and operate rotary draw tube-bending equipment. This position is responsible for tooling installation, CNC program verification, machine adjustments, production operation, quality inspection, and troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, understands tube-bending processes, and can independently produce parts according to blueprints, work instructions, and dimensional requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC rotary draw tube-bending machines.
  • Install, align, and adjust bend dies, clamp dies, pressure dies, mandrels, wiper dies, and related tooling.
  • Load, verify, edit, and troubleshoot CNC tube-bending programs.
  • Complete first-piece inspections and make machine, tooling, or program adjustments.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and setup instructions.
  • Monitor bend angles, dimensions, part quality, and machine performance throughout production runs.
  • Inspect finished parts using calipers, protractors, angle finders, gauges, fixtures, and other measuring equipment.
  • Troubleshoot bending issues such as springback, wrinkling, flattening, wall thinning, tooling wear, and machine malfunctions.
  • Maintain required production, quality, and traceability documentation.
  • Meet established production rates, quality standards, and customer requirements.
  • Recommend improvements to setups, tooling, production methods, and equipment performance.
  • Perform basic machine maintenance and keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Follow all company safety and quality procedures.
  • Assist other operators and production departments as needed.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience setting up and operating CNC or rotary draw tube-bending equipment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of mandrel bending, tooling alignment, bend calculations, and machine setup procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools and inspection equipment.
  • Understanding of dimensional tolerances and manufacturing quality standards.
  • Ability to perform shop math using decimals, fractions, percentages, ratios, and basic geometry.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage changing production priorities.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to regularly bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and walk throughout the workday.
  • Ability to handle and manipulate tooling, materials, machine controls, and measuring equipment.
  • Ability to lift and move materials or tooling weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to visually inspect parts, tooling, and machine operations.
