Job Title Material Handler

Department Production

Position Type Full Time/1st Shift/Non-Exempt

Reports To Production Supervisor

Working Hours Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm

Job Summary

The Material Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), finished goods, and supplies throughout the facility. This position supports production operations by ensuring materials are delivered accurately and on time while maintaining inventory accuracy and a clean, organized work environment.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Unload delivery trucks using forklifts, or other company equipment.
  • Store, label materials as needed, and distribute received materials to designated areas.
  • Perform cycle counts and physical inventory as required.
  • Ability to open bales, crates, and other containers, and weigh incoming material as required.
  • Follow First in First Out (FIFO) Inventory practices.
  • Transport raw materials, components, and finished goods to and from production areas.
  • Supply production departments with materials needed to maintain workflow and minimize downtime.
  • Receive, verify, and store incoming materials and supplies.
  • Stage materials for production jobs according to schedules and work orders.
  • Move completed parts and assemblies to designated locations.
  • Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory activities.
  • Verify material identification, quantities, and locations.
  • Load and unload trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
  • Maintain warehouse and production storage areas in a clean and organized condition.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report inventory discrepancies, damaged materials, or safety concerns to management.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to material flow and inventory control.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Qualification Requirements

  • Speak, read, and write English.
  • Successfully pass drug screen and background check.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a certified forklift operator.
  • Maintain a professional image for Customers, Vendors, potential Employees, and visitors.
  • Have a Driverโ€™s License, acceptable driving record, and be able to safely operate a vehicle.
  • Ability to collect data, define problems, establish facts, and draw a valid conclusion.
  • Mechanically inclined with a precise attention to detail and organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform basic math functions.
  • Ability to use the latest technology/software provided by Company.
  • Have solid written and verbal communication skills that can be practiced at all levels of the organization.
  • Understand company Quality Policy and ISO 9001 fundamentals.
  • Ability to adhere to all OSHA safety rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work with deadlines.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Stand, walk, push, pull, climb stairs and ladders, reach overhead and bend to the floor.
    • Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
    • Ability to safely lift 50 pounds.
    • Basic color perception, peripheral and depth perception, close vision of 20 inches or less, distance vision of more than 20 feet are required for reading blueprints and any required customer documentation.
    • Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts.
    • Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.
  • Working Environment/Conditions:
    • Moderate to high noise levels from operating machines and forklifts.
    • Physical hazard being exposed to moving equipment and machine parts.
    • Skin exposure to oils and cutting fluid.
    • Head/humid/cold weather conditions.
  • May be required to follow other job-related instructions, cross-train, and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.
  • May require working over-time and/or off Shift hours depending on customer needs.
