Job description

Job Summary:
We are seeking a precise, detail-oriented Drapery Seamstress to create high-end, custom window treatments and soft home furnishings. The ideal candidate has direct experience working in a drapery workroom and can confidently handle heavy, large-scale fabrics with perfect accuracy. You will work with premium textiles to execute flawless custom designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate industrial sewing machinery, including straight stitch, sergers, and blind hemmers.
  • Construct custom drapery panels, including pinch pleats, grommets, rod pockets, and ripplefold styles.
  • Apply interlinings, linings, and structural buckram to headers smoothly without bunching.
  • Measure, cut, square, and pattern-match complex textile repeats over large tables.
  • Execute hand-stitching for delicate details, weights, and premium closures.
  • Inspect, iron, fan-fold, and package completed orders for client installation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience specifically in drapery or upholstery sewing (Apparel-only experience will not be considered).
  • Expertise in handling heavy fabrics (velvets, linens, brocades) and delicate sheer fabrics.
  • Strong geometric math skills to calculate pattern repeats, pleat spacing, and yield measurements.
  • Extreme attention to detail with a proven ability to sew perfectly straight lines across long spans.
  • Reliable transportation [Optional: and/or a clean, smoke-free home workspace with professional equipment].
