NHRA continues to race forward with a number of key initiatives, including a multiyear partnership with FOX Sports to televise NHRA events from the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, and the Pro Mod Drag Racing Series. FOX Sports networks aired more than 500 hours of programming throughout the year, highlighted by 20+ race-day shows, including eight on FOX's national network, in addition to qualifying broadcasts throughout the weekend. NHRA fans continue to be some of the most loyal in any sport.
Position Summary:
The Race Operations Worker assists with critical track and event operations at racetracks within the West Central Division, including track preparation, staging lane management, and drag strip duties such as ready line, water box, and start line operations. The Division has racetracks located in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. This position may involve operating tractors or ATVs and plays an essential role in creating a safe, enjoyable race day experience for guests. Team members are responsible for maintaining safety protocols, communicating effectively with drivers and fans, and fostering a fun, friendly atmosphere throughout race events.
Location: Racetracks throughout the West Central DivisionFLSA/Salary: State minimum wage or $10/hr (whichever is greater)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with track preparation activities before and during race events to ensure optimal racing conditions
- Work in various positions within the staging lanes to facilitate smooth vehicle flow and staging procedures
- Perform duties on the drag strip including ready line, water box, and start line operations during race events
- Operate tractors, ATVs, and other equipment as needed to support race operations and track maintenance
- Ensure the safety of guests, participants, and staff by enforcing safety protocols and monitoring track conditions
- Communicate clearly and effectively with drivers, crew members, and other race operations personnel
- Provide information and assistance to guests to enhance their race day experience
- Maintain a professional, fun, and friendly atmosphere while interacting with fans and participants
- Follow directions from race officials and supervisors to support efficient event operations
- Adapt to changing assignments and work locations throughout the facility as needed during events
- Contribute to the overall guest experience by delivering excellent customer service
- Perform other duties as assigned to support race day operations and events
Minimum Skills and Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- A prior background in motorsports is highly preferred
- Must be able to handle sounds at a high volume
- Must be flexible with meal and rest periods
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, push, pull, run, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed
- Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under NHRA insurance policy
- Must arrive on time and ready to work at shift start
- Must be able to enforce all facility policies and procedures, including start line policies, to ensure a safe environment for all guests
- Must be able to work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results
- Ability to work well within a team and independently
- Ability to follow and understand verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Travel is required within the region - Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wisconsin
