Our client is seeking a full-time Drafting and Layout Person to work from their Mississauga location.

Job Description

The Drafting and layout person is detail oriented, well organized and a proactive individual. With the Salesperson, Production Manager, Project Coordinator, Production Coordinator and Shop Foreman, they form the Project Team. Among other things, the Drafting and Layout person is responsible for assembling all information and details to successfully produce detailed shop drawings and fabrication layout documents. This demands constant and open communication with all members of the Project team.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical aptitude and knowledge of basic building sciences and typical construction details
  • The ability to read and understand Architectural, Mechanical and Structural drawings
  • Good numeracy and verbal communication skills
  • Thorough and complete knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Working knowledge of software programs such as XL; Word; Outlook and Adobe PDF.
  • Self motivation and strong work ethic
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • The ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment
  • The ability to handle responsibility and the pressure of meeting deadlines
  • Great interpersonal and team working skills
  • Overtime may be required to meet specific deadlines

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Read the Project Specifications and compare them to the Sales Work Order to ensure that there are no discrepancies, omissions or incompatibilities with Company standards and practices.
  • Meet with Salesperson and Project Coordinator, as required, to ensure you have a complete understanding of all that is required on the project including all special conditions and details.
  • Produce Shop Drawings and Fabrication Layouts as required and according to schedule
  • Purge and file all drawings, fabrication layouts and other project documents (hard and soft copies)
  • Complete product quantity take offs from contract drawings, as may be necessary
  • Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. You may be asked to assist / train in other facets of our company such as estimating, production coordination, site assistance, etc.
