SYSTRA Canada is an engineering and consulting firm whose primary focus is to offer transportation solutions, whether for passengers or goods: feasibility studies of building a new railway line, increasing the capacity of the existing infrastructure, privatization of a railway. 


As a Communications Intern, you will support the internal communications team in delivering clear, engaging, and accurate communications across the organization. You will contribute to a variety of projects while gaining practical experience in corporate communications.


  • Assist with the creation, drafting, editing, proofreading, and distribution of internal and external communications, including newsletters, announcements, and employee messages.
  • Support the development, maintenance, and updating of content for the company intranet and other internal digital channels, ensuring information is current, accurate, and relevant.
  • Research and draft internal articles by gathering information from stakeholders and collaborating with teams across the organization.
  • Support the planning and execution of internal communications campaigns by preparing content, coordinating with internal contributors, and helping adapt messages for different audiences and communication channels.
  • Assist with the delivery of internal events such as Town Halls and employee engagement activities.
  • Contribute to effective audience targeting by applying internal communications best practices.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and support day-to-day corporate communications activities.

Education: Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field.

Years of experience: Previous internship, volunteer, campus, or extracurricular experience in communications, content creation, event support, or related activities is considered an asset.

Technical competencies:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both in French and English, including basic copyediting in both languages.*
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Comfortable using Canva and/or Adobe Suite.
  • Experience with SharePoint is considered an asset.
  • Ability to synthesize information and write clear, engaging messages for a variety of audiences.
  • Strong research skills and ability to gather information to develop well-informed content.
