Drafting Freelance information

What is drafting freelance?

Drafting freelance refers to providing drafting services on a contract or project basis, rather than as a full-time employee. Freelance drafters use software like AutoCAD or Revit to create technical drawings and plans for industries such as architecture, engineering, and manufacturing. They often work remotely for multiple clients, offering flexibility and specialized expertise for various projects. Freelance drafting can include tasks like creating blueprints, 3D models, and detailed schematics according to client specifications.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a drafting freelance professional?

To thrive as a Drafting Freelance professional, you need strong technical drawing skills, knowledge of drafting standards, and typically a background in architecture, engineering, or design. Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or SolidWorks is crucial, and certifications in these tools can enhance credibility. Attention to detail, time management, and effective client communication are standout soft skills in this role. These skills and qualities ensure accurate, timely project delivery and foster strong client relationships in a competitive freelance environment.

What are some common challenges drafting freelancers face when working with multiple clients simultaneously?

Drafting freelancers often juggle projects from several clients at once, which can present challenges such as managing varying expectations, adhering to different drafting standards, and meeting overlapping deadlines. Effective time management and clear communication are essential to ensure project specifications are fully understood and delivered on schedule. Freelancers may also need to quickly adapt to different CAD software or workflow processes depending on the client, making flexibility and ongoing learning important for success.

Are drafting freelancers still in demand?

Drafting freelancers are still in demand as many industries, including architecture, engineering, and manufacturing, require skilled professionals to create technical drawings and plans. Proficiency with CAD software and a strong understanding of building codes can enhance job prospects, especially for remote or project-based work.

To become a freelance drafting professional, develop strong skills in CAD software such as AutoCAD or Revit, build a portfolio showcasing your work, and gain experience through internships or projects. Job description

Who are we?

Motley Fool Asset Management (MFAM) brings The Motley Fool's decades of investing expertise to professionally managed ETFs, helping investors put our long-term, high-conviction investing philosophy to work without having to manage individual stocks themselves. As a growing business within The Motley Fool, we combine the entrepreneurial spirit of a scaling asset manager with the strength of a trusted financial brand.

We're passionate about thoughtful investing, continuous improvement, and delivering an exceptional experience for our clients- and we're looking for people who are excited to help shape what's next.

What would you do in this role?

We are seeking an experienced Head of Marketing to lead the marketing function for our growing ETF asset management firm. This is a senior role for a marketer equally comfortable setting strategy and executing hands-on. You will own the marketing program end-to-end, driving brand awareness, advisor and retail investor engagement, and AUM growth across our ETF suite, working closely with the President and Director of Operations, distribution, portfolio management, and legal and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and evolve the firm's marketing strategy across retail investor and professional advisor/RIA audiences, translating business goals into actionable plans with clear timelines and KPIs
  • Build and maintain a firm-wide marketing calendar covering campaigns, email sends, collateral deadlines, advisor calls, and compliance review windows - proactively briefing distribution teams ahead of investor communications
  • Identify and launch marketing partnerships with distribution partners, content platforms, and listing exchanges

Leadership & Team Development

  • Serve as the strategic marketing leader for MFAM, setting priorities, establishing operating rhythms, and ensuring the marketing function delivers against business goals
  • Lead, coach, and develop internal team members, agencies, and freelancers- providing clear direction, actionable feedback, and opportunities for growth
  • Build a high-performance marketing function by establishing scalable processes, clear ownership, and high standards for execution and accountability
  • Make thoughtful resourcing decisions, balancing internal capabilities, external partners, and emerging AI solutions as the business evolves
  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships, earning trust through collaboration, transparency, and reliable execution

Multi-Channel Execution

  • Own a comprehensive multi-channel program spanning email, digital advertising, social media, webinars, events, pitchbooks, and content marketing
  • Coordinate conferences, industry events, and quarterly advisor calls - managing logistics, messaging, and materials
  • Oversee PR efforts with external agency partners; support podcasting initiatives and direct response programs for retail investors

Collateral Production & Quality Control

  • Own the end-to-end collateral workflow - from briefing through design, copywriting, L&C review, Red Oak submission, and distribution
  • Serve as the firm's QC gatekeeper: review all materials with rigorous attention to data accuracy, language consistency, and regulatory compliance before publication
  • Run the automated collateral production process; maintain a version-controlled collateral library; manage the Morgan Stanley 4U platform
  • Publish fund data quarterly to eVestment, Wilshire, and other distribution databases; monitor the firm website for accuracy and freshness
  • Ensure advisor call recordings are pre-approved, reviewed, and published to the website without compliance surprises

Compliance & Regulatory Coordination

  • Build L&C review windows into every production schedule; own records-retention processes per firm and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of SEC/FINRA advertising rules applicable to registered investment advisers and ETF products

Budget Management

  • Own the marketing budget - tracking spend across channels, vendors, and campaigns to ensure the team operates on plan throughout the year
  • Manage agency, freelancer, and platform contracts; negotiate vendor agreements to maximize value and flag budget risks or overages proactively
  • Prepare budget reporting and reconciliation for leadership, with clear visibility into committed spend, actuals, and remaining capacity

Vendors & Analytics

  • Manage agency partners; recommend build vs. outsource decisions as the program scales
  • Track marketing KPIs via HubSpot, Google Analytics, or similar tools; report performance insights to leadership
AI & Technology Fluency

AI fluency is a core expectation of this role. The Head of Marketing is expected to leverage AI tools to elevate team output and apply sound editorial judgment before any AI-generated content reaches investors or compliance review.

Using AI to Work More Efficiently

  • Use AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Jasper) to accelerate drafts for marketing copy, emails, commentary, pitchbooks, and social content
  • Streamline repetitive production tasks - collateral updates, data population, distribution management - with AI-assisted workflows
  • Evaluate and recommend AI platforms that improve the team's efficiency across content, campaign management, and analytics

AI Literacy & Oversight

  • Apply rigorous editorial judgment to all AI-generated content - accuracy, compliance, and brand consistency are non-negotiable before publication
  • Establish internal guidelines for AI use in marketing, in coordination with legal and compliance; stay current on SEC/FINRA implications
  • Proactively brief leadership on emerging AI tools, risks, and competitive developments relevant to ETF marketing
What we're looking for

Required

  • 6-10 years of financial services marketing experience, with meaningful experience in ETF, asset management, wealth management, or investment management marketing
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing integrated, multi-channel marketing campaigns from strategy through execution, measurement, and optimization
  • Experience marketing investment products to financial advisors, RIAs, and/or retail investors within a regulated environment
  • Strong understanding of SEC and FINRA advertising regulations and experience partnering closely with Legal & Compliance throughout the marketing lifecycle
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives across Marketing, Distribution, Investments, Operations, and Compliance to deliver complex projects on time
  • Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and quality
  • Experience managing, coaching, and developing employees, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to establish processes and drive execution across multiple stakeholders
  • Experience owning marketing budgets, vendor relationships, and agency partnerships
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze campaign performance and use data to inform marketing strategy and optimization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex investment concepts into clear, compelling, and compliant marketing content
  • High level of accountability, ownership, and sound judgment with a collaborative, low-ego approach
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Finance, Communications, or a related field

Preferred

  • Experience with eVestment, Wilshire, Red Oak, and the Morgan Stanley 4U platform
  • Background in marketing automation, PR, podcasting, or event management in financial services
