Position Title: Drafting and Technical Specialist
Lumicor is seeking a skilled and innovative Drafting & Technical Specialist to support and enhance our focus on technical solutions, hardware development, and drafting execution. This role will work in tandem with Product Development, Engineering, and Inside Sales Support, ensuring high-quality technical documentation and product implementation.
This individual will play a key role within the drafting team while also supporting the development of new and enhanced technical solutions. The ideal candidate is a critical thinker who is mechanically minded, detail-oriented, and eager to collaborate across departments to improve product innovation and technical execution.
Job Summary:
Product Development & Hardware Solutions
  • Assist in the development and implementation of prescribed technical hardware solutions that support product growth and innovation.
  • Work alongside the Product Development team to refine, test, and document new hardware and material applications.
  • Research and analyze trends in materials and manufacturing methods to enhance internal development processes.
  • Collaborate closely with the Engineering to ensure the feasibility and effectiveness of prescribed designs.
  • Support the sourcing of new hardware and materials to expand product capabilities and streamline internal processes.
  • Capable of operating various tools and machinery required for creating mock-ups and custom hardware fabrication prototypes.

Drafting & Programming
  • Work within the drafting team ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical drawings and documentation.
  • Ensure drafting output supports both internal product development and external sales opportunities effectively.
  • Review and approve detailed drawings, specifications, and documentation to maintain accuracy and alignment with company objectives.
  • Maintain an open-communication culture within the team, promoting efficiency, accuracy, and innovation.

Project Support & Special Initiatives
  • Provide technical expertise in the execution of internal projects such as showroom and tradeshow displays, and select facility improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in refining installation methods and processes for internal applications.
  • Support solution sales opportunities as needed, providing technical expertise, hardware quotes, and drafting support.

Skills & Competencies
  • Strong mechanical and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with hardware development, product design, or material integration.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD software (Revit, SolidWorks, and Mastercam preferred).
  • Experience in reviewing and approving technical documentation and fabrication.
  • Knowledge of materials such as plastics, aluminum, steel, wood, and glass.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze and implement improvements in product development and technical processes.
  • Ability to work cross-departmentally to bring initiatives from concept to execution.
