Job description

We are seeking a skilled Draftsperson to join our civil engineering team at Support of Excavation Engineers, reporting directly to the Principal Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and plans based on engineering specifications, interpreting complex drawings, gathering necessary information from various stakeholders, and assisting with office administration tasks to support project operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret civil, architectural, and structural drawings to ensure accurate representation and integration into project plans.
  • Gather all required information from engineers, architects, utilities, agencies, and other stakeholders to inform drafting processes.
  • Prepare and revise detailed 2D and 3D drawings, including plans, sections, elevation details, schedules, and notes, using software such as AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Collaborate with civil engineers, architects, project managers, and external parties to incorporate feedback and ensure drawings align with design requirements.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ASCE, ASTM).
  • Perform calculations and annotations for dimensions, materials, and tolerances in engineering plans.
  • Maintain drafting files, equipment, and documentation, including version control for accuracy and accessibility.
  • Prepare comprehensive, accurate cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, mobilization, subcontractors, general conditions, overhead, profit, bonding, and risk/contingency for geotechnical and civil projects
  • Support the preparation of bid documents, construction plans, and as-built drawings.
  • Handle office administration tasks, including organizing project documentation, scheduling meetings, managing correspondence with stakeholders, and maintaining office supplies and equipment.
  • Assemble professional bid packages and supporting documentation.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Draftsperson or in a similar role within civil engineering or construction.
  • Full proficiency and capability in working with AutoCAD and MicroStation (experience with Civil 3D or Revit is a plus).
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, including topography, hydrology, and structural elements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality, error-free work.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations in civil engineering.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience with office administration tasks, such as document management and scheduling.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel for data management, Word for documentation, Outlook for correspondence).
