Dynamic positioning is a computer-controlled system that automatically maintains a ship's position and heading by using its own propellers and thrusters. People working in DP positions, like DP Operators or DP Officers, are responsible for ensuring the vessel remains steady, especially during sensitive operations such as drilling, diving, or loading cargo at sea. These roles require specialized training and certification to operate the DP systems safely and efficiently.
