Job description

Essential Responsibilities

Performs bench level testing, troubleshooting, repair/rework and assembly of intermediate to moderately complex aerospace avionics and electronic assemblies, subassemblies, components and related systems in accordance with approved technical data, standard practices, and industry standards. Will perform manual and semi-automated testing using various electronic test equipment. Will troubleshoot, diagnose and identify failures as needed to component level. Performs rework and repair as required. Responsible for completion of work order maintenance reports and other documentation as required.



  • Ensure scope and quality of work performed meets manufacturer, customer and regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure proper handling of all material and components throughout the production cycle.

  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of production area at all times.

  • Ensure all equipment and tools are in serviceable condition as required.

  • Ensure use of current technical data as required.

  • Perform preliminary and hidden damage inspections.

  • Determine work scope based on evaluation findings, customer requirements and approved technical data.

  • Perform repair, rework, assembly, inspection and testing as required.

  • Train, mentor and provide guidance to junior technicians.

  • Compliance with company policies, safety guidelines, regulatory requirements and ethical standards.

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge, understanding and application of 14 CFR Part 145 requirements.

  • Other duties as assigned.



Competencies

  • Must have advanced knowledge of electronics theory and troubleshooting techniques through education or experience.
  • Must be capable of reading, interpreting, understanding and following technical data in all forms including technical manuals, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, technical orders, repair specifications, repair instructions or other approved technical data.
  • Manual dexterity/ability to hold, position, remove, install small form electronic components.
  • Understanding of electrical circuit theory.
  • Aptitude for fine, detailed mechanical work with a high level of accuracy and precision.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills .
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments.

Required Education orExperience

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum five years previous experience as avionics bench technician or equivalent experience, formal electronics training/certification or combination of experience and education totaling 5 years.
  • Must be proficient with PCB soldering/J-STD-001 certification
  • Basic computer skills/MS office suite
  • Read, speak, write and understand the English language


    Preferred Education and Experience

    • FCC Radiotelephone Operator License
    • A&P or qualification for FAA Repairman certificate
    • Associates Degree in Electronics or related major, BS preferred
    • J Standard 001 Rev. E (Soldering Certification).
    • Have held Repairman's Certificate
