Job Description

Network Designs, Inc. (NDi) is seeking an experienced Senior .NET Developer to design, develop, enhance, and support secure, scalable enterprise applications. This position is ideal for a hands-on software engineer who can work across the full technology stack, translate complex business requirements into effective technical solutions, and provide technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with C#, modern .NET technologies, ASP.NET Core, Angular, SQL Server, and RESTful API development. This individual will work closely with business analysts, product owners, architects, quality assurance personnel, DevOps engineers, and other developers to deliver reliable, maintainable, and user-focused applications. The Senior .NET Developer will also contribute to application architecture, technical design, code quality, performance optimization, security, and the mentoring of less-experienced developers.

Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance
  • This position requires working onsite in Alexandria, VA, 5 days per week
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Software Development, or a related technical discipline. An equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and relevant professional experience may be considered.
  • At minimum 10 years' related work experience
  • Advanced proficiency with C# and modern .NET technologies, including .NET Core, .NET 6 or newer, and ASP.NET Core.
  • Strong experience designing and developing RESTful APIs, web services, and system integrations.
  • Strong experience developing modern web applications using Angular and TypeScript.
  • Advanced Microsoft SQL Server development experience, including complex queries, stored procedures, database design, and performance tuning.
  • Strong proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and responsive web-development techniques.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming, dependency injection, design patterns, and layered or service-oriented application architectures.
  • Experience using Entity Framework or Entity Framework Core and other common data-access technologies.
  • Experience with source-control and collaborative development tools such as Git, Azure DevOps, GitHub, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience developing and supporting applications through the complete software development lifecycle.
  • Experience working in Agile or Scrum development environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex application, database, API, integration, and production-support issues.
  • Understanding of application security, authentication, authorization, input validation, error handling, logging, and secure coding practices.
  • Ability to independently analyze requirements, develop technical solutions, and complete complex assignments with limited supervision.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.

ResponsibilitiesApplication Design and Development:
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise applications using C#, ASP.NET Core, and current supported versions of .NET.
  • Develop scalable, maintainable, and reusable application components that support complex business and operational requirements.
  • Participate in application architecture and technical design discussions and recommend practical solutions based on established engineering principles.
  • Analyze existing applications and recommend improvements to application performance, reliability, security, usability, and maintainability.
  • Modernize legacy applications and assist with the migration of existing solutions to current .NET technologies and architectural patterns.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, integration, database, and production-support issues.
API and Integration Development:
  • Design, develop, document, and maintain secure RESTful APIs, web services, and application integrations.
  • Develop service-oriented and microservices-based components where appropriate.
  • Integrate applications with internal systems, external platforms, databases, and third-party services.
  • Implement appropriate authentication, authorization, validation, logging, exception handling, and data-protection controls.
  • Monitor and optimize API performance, reliability, and scalability.
Front-End Development:
  • Design and develop responsive, accessible, and user-friendly web interfaces using Angular, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Build reusable front-end components and services that support consistent application behavior and presentation.
  • Collaborate with users, product owners, and design professionals to translate functional requirements into effective user experiences.
  • Troubleshoot browser, performance, usability, and front-end integration issues.
  • Maintain alignment between front-end functionality and supporting back-end services.
Database Development:
  • Design and maintain relational database structures using Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, and data-access components.
  • Analyze and improve database performance through query optimization, indexing, execution-plan analysis, and other tuning techniques.
  • Support data modeling, data validation, data integrity, migration, and application reporting requirements.
  • Work with large or complex datasets while maintaining accuracy, security, and system performance.
Software Development Lifecycle:
  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, estimation, design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and production support.
  • Translate business, functional, and technical requirements into detailed application designs and working software solutions.
  • Develop unit tests and support automated testing, integration testing, regression testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, demonstrations, and retrospectives.
  • Support application releases and coordinate deployment activities with DevOps, infrastructure, security, and operations teams.
  • Create and maintain technical specifications, system documentation, release notes, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guidance.
Engineering Quality and Technical Leadership:
  • Apply secure coding practices, object-oriented design principles, design patterns, and established software-development standards.
  • Conduct peer code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve code quality, consistency, security, and maintainability.
  • Identify technical risks, dependencies, performance concerns, and implementation challenges early in the development process.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior and mid-level developers.
  • Contribute to engineering standards, development practices, reusable frameworks, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
