Job description

.NET Developer

Prudent Technology is seeking a senior-level .NET Developer to provide application development, database engineering, and metadata support to SSA's Data Strategy and Enablement (DSAE) Data Administration team. This role focuses on designing and developing modern, secure .NET-based applications and services that integrate with SSA's enterprise metadata repositories, database catalogs, and information schemas, blending full-stack .NET development with deep database design and metadata management expertise to support enterprise data standards, reference data initiatives, and modernization of SSA's data administration tools. The specialist will work closely with developers, data architects, and project teams to design and maintain systems dependent on high-quality metadata and database structures, ensuring strong alignment between application architecture and data administration frameworks.

Location: Woodlawn, MD (On-Site)

Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust (contract requirement)

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications and services using .NET, .NET Core, C#, Blazor, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Build and maintain database catalogs, information schemas, and metadata repositories integrated with .NET applications and data administration tools.
  • Design authentication and authorization flows using OpenID Connect and related identity and access management standards.
  • Implement secure development practices including secure authentication, authorization, and session management.
  • Apply clean architecture principles, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and service-oriented design to build maintainable and testable applications aligned with data design requirements.
  • Modernize legacy Excel and VBA-based logic by migrating functionality into maintainable .NET Core solutions.
  • Write and optimize SQL and LINQ queries to support performant application features and efficient data access layers.
  • Support logical data modeling, data profiling, and data integration across relational and non-relational systems.
  • Provide moderate web server and systems maintenance, including configuration and operational support.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows using Azure DevOps, including automated builds and deployments.
  • Write and maintain PowerShell scripts for automated deployment, environment configuration, and server/database setup.
  • Provide metadata and schema guidance for data integration, data exchange, and reference data initiatives, including JSON, XML, and Avro.
  • Contribute to requirements analysis, design documentation, technical writing, and status reporting.

Basic Qualifications Required Education, Certifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and experience in .NET development, metadata management, database engineering, or enterprise data administration.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in application development, data engineering, or database/metadata roles in enterprise or federal environments.
  • Strong experience with C#, .NET, .NET Core, and modern front-end technologies including Blazor.
  • Strong experience in database design, engineering, and maintenance across PostgreSQL, SQL Server, DB2, and Oracle.
  • Experience implementing secure application development practices and designing identity flows with OpenID Connect.
  • Demonstrated experience modernizing legacy VBA/Excel logic into .NET Core solutions.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Git, Bitbucket, and GitHub.
  • Strong SQL and LINQ optimization skills and understanding of relational fundamentals including keys, constraints, and referential integrity.
  • Experience with distributed/batch processing and data integration workflows.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills and ability to collaborate across data, architecture, and development teams.
