Door Knocking information

What is door knocking?

A Door Knocking job involves going door-to-door to engage with people, usually for sales, marketing, political canvassing, or surveys. The role requires strong communication skills, persistence, and the ability to handle rejection. Responsibilities may include informing residents about a product or service, gathering information, or persuading potential customers to take action. It is often commission-based, requiring self-motivation and confidence in face-to-face interactions.

What skills and qualifications are needed for door knocking?

To thrive as a Door Knocker, you need strong interpersonal communication skills, persuasive sales abilities, and a high level of initiative, typically with a background in sales or customer outreach. Familiarity with digital lead management tools, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, or route planning apps is often beneficial. Persistence, resilience, and the ability to remain positive in the face of rejection are standout soft skills in this field. These skills are vital for making effective first impressions, generating leads, and achieving sales targets in a fast-paced, face-to-face environment.

What are the common challenges faced by door knockers, and how can they be overcome?

One of the most common challenges for Door Knockers is handling frequent rejection or unresponsive prospects while maintaining motivation and enthusiasm throughout the day. Success in this role also requires adaptability to varied neighborhoods or weather conditions, as much of the work is done outdoors and in new locations. Overcoming these challenges involves developing effective communication techniques, staying organized with tools like CRM apps, and setting personal goals to stay focused. Many companies offer training and support to help team members improve their pitch and resilience, providing a pathway for growth and continued learning. Persistence and a positive mindset are key traits that help Door Knockers excel and advance in their sales careers.

Job description

Experienced Door-to-Door Canvasser / Future Team Lead
Elevated Remodeling | Denver Metro Area
Commission: 15% of revenue on every self-generated project sold
Elevated Remodeling is looking for an experienced canvasser who genuinely loves the grind.
We are not looking for someone who merely can knock doors. We are looking for the person who would rather create their own opportunities than wait around for leads—the person who understands that every neighborhood is a new territory, every door is a new conversation, and every “no” puts them closer to a serious commission.
If knocking doors fires you up, if you’re relentlessly self-motivated, and if you want the opportunity to eventually build and lead your own canvassing team, this position was built for you.
The Opportunity
Elevated Remodeling is a growing, locally owned remodeling company with the operational infrastructure already in place:
  • A dedicated project manager overseeing production
  • An experienced closer ready to run qualified appointments
  • A fully functioning call center to confirm appointments and improve sit rates
  • Multiple installation crews ready to fulfill sold projects
  • Existing online lead generation supporting the sales operation
  • A strong need for additional appointments to fill open availability

You won’t be walking into a company that still needs to figure out sales, production, or fulfillment. The machine is built. We need a canvasser who can feed it.
You will begin in the field, personally knocking doors, generating homeowner interest, and setting qualified appointments. Once you have proven that you can consistently create opportunities—and that you truly live for the work—you will have the opportunity to recruit, train, and lead the Elevated Remodeling canvassing team.
This is a ground-floor leadership opportunity. But leadership here is earned in the field.
Compensation
You will earn 15% of the revenue from every self-generated project that is sold.
That means:
  •  A $20,000 project sold = $3,000 commission
  •  A $30,000 project sold = $4,500 commission
  •  A $50,000 project sold = $7,500 commission
All Commissions are paid as soon as the contract exits recission. That means you can have cash in hand 3 business days after knocking on doors.
Products Elevated Remodeling sells are replacement windows, siding, gutters, and bathrooms.
There is serious money available for someone who can consistently generate qualified opportunities. Your income will be determined by your production, discipline, and willingness to knock.
What You’ll Do
  •  Knock residential doors throughout the Denver metro area
  •  Start genuine conversations with homeowners
  •  Identify remodeling needs and generate qualified appointments
  •  Accurately collect and submit homeowner information
  •  Coordinate with our call center for appointment confirmation
  •  Work with our sales team to maximize the value of every opportunity
  •  Track your activity, appointments, and results
  •  Learn which neighborhoods, approaches, and messages convert best
  •  Eventually help recruit, train, motivate, and manage a canvassing team

Who We’re Looking For
You may be the right person if:
  •  You have real door-to-door canvassing or sales experience
  •  You love performance-based compensation and uncapped upside
  •  You are an absolute self-starter
  •  You do not need someone constantly watching or motivating you
  •  You are comfortable hearing “no” without losing energy
  •  You know how to establish trust quickly
  •  You can stay disciplined when nobody else is around
  •  You are competitive, coachable, and accountable
  •  You want to build something—not just hold another job
  •  You have the potential to become a leader, but you’re willing to prove yourself first

Experience in home improvement, roofing, windows, siding, bathrooms, solar, pest control, alarms, telecommunications, or another door-to-door industry is strongly preferred.
This Position Is Not for Everyone
Do not apply if you need a manager to get you out the door every morning.
Do not apply if you like the *idea* of commissions more than the reality of knocking hundreds of doors.
Do not apply if rejection shuts you down, consistency is a problem, or you expect leadership before demonstrating production.
We want someone who sees an empty appointment slot and thinks, “I can fill that.”
 Where This Can Go
The immediate mission is simple: knock doors, generate qualified appointments, and create revenue.
Prove that you can do that consistently, and you will have the opportunity to help build Elevated Remodeling’s door-to-door division from the ground up. That can include recruiting canvassers, developing field strategy, training new hires, establishing performance standards, and leading the team you helped create.
If you live for the grind, want commissions that reflect your output, and believe you can build something substantial with us, apply and tell us about your door-to-door experience, your best month in the field, and what makes you confident you can produce without being managed.
