ABOUT THE ROLE

Family First is looking for a mission-driven donor relations specialist to join our growing development team. In this role, you will cultivate and steward a portfolio of base-level donors, helping move supporters toward deeper engagement and increased generosity. This role reports to the director of development.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional eager to build meaningful donor relationships, sharpen fundraising skills, and grow in a collaborative nonprofit environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Donor Engagement

  • Manage a portfolio of base-level donors with a focus on retention and relationship-building.
  • Conduct proactive, personalized outreach to donors through phone calls, texts, emails, video meetings, and handwritten notes.
  • Execute donor appeals to receive financial support from the base-level donor portfolio.

Research & Analysis

  • Identify and assess the upgrade potential within the base-level donor portfolio to mid- or major-donor levels.
  • Provide individual donor research as support for the development field team.
  • Analyze donor data and reports to ensure donor retention, reactivate lapsed donors, and execute moves management.

Collaboration & Events

  • Assist the Events Team with donor fundraising events.

CRM & Reporting

  • Accurately document all donor interactions in HubSpot in a timely manner.
  • Identify new donor prospects by evaluating data in HubSpot.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators, including touchpoints, donor upgrades, retention rates, and annual fund revenue growth.
  • Establish expertise in HubSpot.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in nonprofit development, donor relations, customer success, or a relationship-focused role
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a variety of audiences
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to convey mission, impact, and vision in a compelling way
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with comfort working toward defined metrics and goals
  • Alignment with Family First’s mission and values
  • Experience with HubSpot or a similar CRM platform
  • Familiarity with fundraising strategies, donor stewardship, or moves management
  • Ability to travel occasionally for donor meetings or events
