Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists and participates the day-to-day activities and functions of kitchen facilities, food items preparation and production in assigned section and ensure that the standard performance is implemented and maintained according to designated task
Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables or preparing sauces)
Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
Clean up station and take care of leftover food
Stock inventory appropriately
Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
Maintain a positive and professional approach with co-workers
Required Skills:
Attention to Detail: Kitchen Leads have to keep their eyes on a lot of elements: food standards, costs, safety, etc.
Leadership: Kitchen Leads must be leaders in the back of house, rallying their team during busy shifts, resolving conflicts and getting the job done.
Leadership Skills: Kitchen Leads not only deal with food, they also have to deal with costs, pricing, leading a successful shift and more.
Organizational Skills: Keeping the line, shipments, cleaning schedules and more organized is crucial to the job.
Problem-Solving Skills: Being able to come up with a solution quickly is a needed skill.
Speaking Skills: Kitchen supervisors need to accurately and easily communicate standards and cooking methods to staff, give orders and speak with staff clearly. Spanish is a plus!
Stamina: Kitchen Leads can expect long days around hot cooking elements, much of it on their feet. Must be able to lift 50lbs.
