Job description

Looking for your new happy place?
Five Points Kennels is looking for the right kind of people to join our team! Our mission is to provide superior pet care for the dogs and cats of Central Indiana and we need the right people on board to achieve this.
The team of Five Points Kennels work hard and love what they do. If that sounds like your kind of place, then keep reading!
PART-TIME & FULL-TIME POSITIONS AVAILABLE:
We are seeking people who are passionate about working with dogs and their humans to create better relationships. We have open positions for animal care technicians, receptionists, bathers and Playschool Professors.
An ideal candidate will be someone who is passionate about dogs and not afraid of hard work. We are biased - but we are pretty sure we are the best place to work - EVER! And we really believe that we are changing the world for each dog we meet and their human. The job is not all roses and sunshine- there is some good news and there is some bad news. Bad news first. . .
The Bad News:
1. The pay is not amazing. Meaning, you won't become independently wealthy at this job. However, we are trying to be very competitive and pay on the higher end for this type of job, time and a half for overtime and holidays worked and annual raises. And of course, bonuses in puppy kisses!
2. You spend a lot of time on your feet, but hey, you'll get your steps in each and every day.
3. Cleaning is part of the job, dusting, sweeping, mopping, laundry, picking up poop... but hey lots of cleaning practice is good for the home life!
4. Hair is our glitter! It's everywhere and we have to make sure we try and clean it all every day.
The Good News:
1. The people here are super nice. The dogs are loving and kind of crazy. Our pet parents are amazing. It truly is our happy place.
2. Five Points Kennels values quality pet care. We focus on smaller dog to staff ratios, specialized boarding rooms and positive engagement with all our guests.
3. We have dogs of all ages, sizes, and breeds and they love to have a place where dogs can be dogs!
4. We aren't big on drama. We will expect you to work efficiently and keep the dogs safe, and keep the building clean. Everything we do here is for the dog's safety and ours.
5. Flexible scheduling to help you have more time for yourself and your family!!
6. Free and discounted pet care services!
Job Requirements:
1. You need to be the type of person who enjoys being around dogs. You will be around them all day, every day. You will get slobbered on, and hair is everywhere. You will come home covered in dog hair and unspeakable things. You will have to clean up pee, poop, and yes sometimes vomit.
2. This is a physical job. You will need to be able to lift at least 25-50 pounds and be able to be on your feet for long periods of time 8-10-12 hour days.
3. Having a positive attitude and a willingness to learn are a must have here. There are times when you will be working with a team member or two and other times that you will need to work independently, so the ability to learn quickly, be dependable and have a great attitude while doing it are essential for success.
In short, your job is to serve the dogs and have fun doing it. (I mean who wants a job that isn't fun?). The workplace we offer is laid back, safe, but we do expect professionalism and punctuality always! What we don't expect is perfection or pre-existing skills for you to qualify for this job. We can teach you what you need to know, in fact, we prefer to train everyone in our methods anyway to help keep things connected and simple for the dogs.
We are looking to bring our new team members on board as soon as possible, but we will spend the necessary time to find the best fit. We look forward to meeting you!!!
