Experience with basic training tools and participation in dog training or handling classes are often beneficial, as is familiarity with photo and video shoots. What is a dog model?

A Dog Model is a canine that participates in photo shoots, commercials, films, or live events to showcase products, brands, or artistic concepts. These dogs are trained to follow commands, pose, and sometimes perform tricks to capture the desired shots. Owners typically work with agencies or directly with brands to secure modeling opportunities for their pets.

What is a typical workday like for a dog model and their handler?

A typical workday for a Dog Model and their handler may involve traveling to different locations for photo or video shoots, participating in rehearsals, and spending time socializing with other animals or people on set. Handlers are responsible for ensuring the dog is calm, comfortable, and ready to follow cues from photographers or directors, while also keeping schedules and maintaining the dog's appearance. The job can be dynamic, with days varying from short, local sessions to full-day shoots that require patience and adaptability. Collaboration with creative teams, animal trainers, and sometimes other animals is common. Successful Dog Models often have supportive handlers who are proactive in managing their needs and maximizing their performance opportunities.
