What is a dog model?

A Dog Model is a canine that participates in photo shoots, commercials, films, or live events to showcase products, brands, or artistic concepts. These dogs are trained to follow commands, pose, and sometimes perform tricks to capture the desired shots. Dog models are often used in advertisements for pet products, fashion brands, or entertainment projects. Owners typically work with agencies or directly with brands to secure modeling opportunities for their pets.

What is a typical workday like for a dog model and their handler?

A typical workday for a Dog Model and their handler may involve traveling to different locations for photo or video shoots, participating in rehearsals, and spending time socializing with other animals or people on set. Handlers are responsible for ensuring the dog is calm, comfortable, and ready to follow cues from photographers or directors, while also keeping schedules and maintaining the dog's appearance. The job can be dynamic, with days varying from short, local sessions to full-day shoots that require patience and adaptability. Collaboration with creative teams, animal trainers, and sometimes other animals is common. Successful Dog Models often have supportive handlers who are proactive in managing their needs and maximizing their performance opportunities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the dog model position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Dog Model, a dog typically needs to be well-groomed, sociable, able to follow commands, and comfortable in various environments. Experience with basic training tools and participation in dog training or handling classes are often beneficial, as is familiarity with photo and video shoots. Patience, adaptability, and a strong bond with their handler help a dog stand out in this position. These skills ensure the dog can perform reliably on set, interact safely with people and other animals, and fulfill the creative expectations of clients.

How much do you get paid for dog modeling?

Dog models typically earn between $200 and $1,000 per day, depending on factors such as experience, the type of project, and the market. Payment can vary widely, with some high-profile campaigns paying more, and often involves contracts that specify usage rights and duration. Successful dog models usually have good training, temperament, and may require professional photos or portfolios to secure higher-paying jobs.

Royal Oak, MI

Full-time

Job description

Dog Groomer – One-on-One Mobile Grooming | Calm, Flexible WorkdayTired of the chaos of a busy salon? Work one-on-one and focus on what matters—quality grooming and calm, attentive care.

We’re looking for a skilled and compassionate dog groomer who takes pride in their work and values a quieter, more personalized approach. This role is designed for groomers who want to slow down, build trust with pets, and deliver a better overall experience.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide full-service grooming in a fully equipped mobile van at clients’ homes
  • Work one-on-one with each dog in a calm, low-stress setting
  • Perform bathing, haircuts, nail trims, and breed-specific or custom styles
  • Adjust your approach based on each dog’s comfort and behavior
  • Build strong, lasting relationships with clients and their pets
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient mobile workspace

What Sets You Apart
  • Patient, attentive, and compassionate—especially with nervous or senior dogs
  • Detail-oriented and committed to high-quality grooming
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own schedule
  • Clear and professional communicator with clients
  • Grooming experience preferred; strong mindset and work ethic are essential
  • Cat grooming experience is a plus

Why This Role Is Different
  • No high-volume salon environment—just one dog at a time
  • A calmer, more controlled workday
  • Opportunity to build meaningful relationships with repeat clients
  • Greater independence and ownership of your day
  • Focus on quality over quantity

About the Opportunity

We provide a premium mobile grooming service for clients who value convenience, consistency, and exceptional care. Our approach is centered on creating a low-stress experience for both pets and groomers.

If you believe grooming should be calm, patient, and tailored to each dog, this is the environment you’ve been looking for.

Apply Today

If you’re ready to move away from the fast-paced salon model and into a more thoughtful, one-on-one grooming experience, we encourage you to apply.
