Job description

You are primarily responsible for delivering the training services at your assigned locations. This includes performing group classes, train and play sessions, and private lessons. You are also expected to develop all of the skills and acquire all of the knowledge necessary to be considered a Senior Dog Trainer in a relatively short period of time.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Performing New Dog Integrations, Behavior Evaluations, and Walk Assessments independently
  • Performing group classes, private lessons and Train and Play Sessions with limited support or supervision from a Senior Behavior Counselor
  • Following up directly with clients on the details of their dog's behavior (whether results from training services or otherwise)
  • Communicating the behavior needs of dogs to all relevant staff
  • Training associates on recognizing key dog behavior in order to create a safe and fun environment for all dogs
  • Driving revenue (both training and otherwise) from clients based on their dog's behavior needs
  • Documenting in detail all client communications and dog observations into PetShop
  • Learning communication techniques to become an effective client advocate
  • Studying and reading about dog behavior through resources in the company library
  • Assisting at off-site events

Promotion to Senior Dog Trainer: it is expected that approximately 75% of Dog Trainers will be promoted to Senior Dog Trainers within 6-12 months of being made a Dog Trainer. Candidates must demonstrate the following:
  • Expertly accomplish all of the key responsibilities of the position independently
  • Independently perform group classes, Train and Play Sessions, and private lessons
  • Counsel clients on the full spectrum of behavior issues and make appropriate recommendations
  • Generate revenue outside of the training department
  • Speak articulately about the full spectrum of Biscuits & Bath offerings
  • Ensure proper safety mechanisms are in place
  • Educate associates proactively regarding dog behavior
  • Document all relevant information in PetShop

  • Ability to juggle a variety of responsibilities, while balancing competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills.
  • High degree of independent decision-making and problem-solving capability.
