As a dog groomer apprentice, your responsibilities are to assist a more experienced dog groomer so that you can better understand the dog grooming industry. You also learn skills that can help you go into business for yourself or take on more duties at the dog grooming salon. You may cut dog nails and perform other services, such as washing or bathing pets. You are also responsible for cleaning up fur and other waste around the grooming area. You may have numerous customer service and administrative duties, such as maintaining the appointment book, creating promotional material to hand out to clients and the public, and helping the grooming shop owner with billing and inventory purchasing and stocking.
