What is the DoD SkillBridge Program for project management?

The DoD SkillBridge Program for Project Management is a Department of Defense initiative that allows active-duty service members to gain civilian work experience through internships, fellowships, or apprenticeships in project management roles during their last 180 days of service. Participants work with approved industry partners to develop project management skills, making it easier to transition into civilian project management careers after military service. The program is designed to bridge the gap between military and civilian employment by providing real-world, hands-on experience in the project management field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a DoD SkillBridge Program project management role?

To thrive in a DoD SkillBridge Program Project Management role, you need a strong background in project planning, execution, and leadership, often supported by a bachelor's degree and experience in military or civilian project management. Familiarity with project management software such as Microsoft Project, and certifications like PMP or CAPM, are commonly expected.
