About the company: Alyeska Pipeline Service Company was formed in 1970 by a consortium of oil companies to lead the design and construction of the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS), and then operate and maintain TAPS after its startup. Over the next seven years, Alyeska staff and hundreds of workers, contractor companies, and advocates made construction, engineering, American and Alaska history: On June 20, 1977, TAPS moved its first oil. Summary: The primary focus of this role is to further develop and demonstrate a strong foundation of broad engineering knowledge, skills and abilities; performing routine work in alignment with standard techniques, methods and procedures and beginning to be assigned tasks associated with complex, non-routine work. The learning objectives of this internship are to: Research and make initial recommendations in support of technical decisions regarding the operations and maintenance of engineered systems and components. This includes parts replacement, code and regulatory interpretation, safety issues, process control, and preventive maintenance. Assist with the actions required to ensure the pipeline and associated facilities are designed and operated in a safe and environmentally sound manner and in compliance with codes and DOT regulations.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Learning Objectives:

  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and repair pipeline equipment, including pumps, valves, and other related infrastructure
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety regulations and environmental protection standards
  • Project Management: Participate in or lead projects related to pipeline maintenance, upgrades, and repairs
  • Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to pipeline operations
  • Collaboration: Work with other departments and contractors to ensure smooth and efficient pipeline operations
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and inspections
