Job Description

As a Cybersecurity Engineer, you will assist in implementing and monitoring cybersecurity measures to safeguard computer networks, cloud environments, and information systems. This role supports DoD cybersecurity missions by assisting with vulnerability assessments, Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities, security control implementation, incident response, and continuous monitoring.

Position Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing and monitoring cybersecurity measures to safeguard computer networks, cloud environments, and information systems.
• Support senior team members in assessing system vulnerabilities, proposing risk mitigation strategies, and implementing corrective actions.
• Assist with the implementation and maintenance of the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and security controls in accordance with NIST SP 800-53 requirements.
• Support Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities, including security control implementation, documentation, and continuous monitoring.
• Support cybersecurity vulnerability assessments using ACAS and the Tenable Tool Suite.
• Support AWS Cloud Security initiatives and cloud security best practices.
• Support DevSecOps processes, including CI/CD pipelines and GitLab workflows.
• Assist with Linux system administration, Bash scripting, and automation tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related technical field.
• Must have excellent communication skills, be a rapid learner, and have the capability to work autonomously while knowing when to ask for assistance.
• Understanding of the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF).
• Working knowledge of NIST SP 800-53 security controls and compliance requirements.
• Experience with POA&M (Plan of Action and Milestones) management.
• Familiarity with eMASS (Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service).
• Experience with ACAS and Tenable Tool Suite for vulnerability assessment and remediation.
• Understanding of AWS Cloud Security principles.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps concepts, CI/CD pipelines, and GitLab.
• Basic Linux system administration experience.
• Experience with Bash scripting or other scripting languages preferred.
• Understanding of DISA STIGs and Security Requirements Guides (SRGs).
• CompTIA Security+, CEH, or similar cybersecurity certifications preferred.
