Job description

  • Corporate Hiring Solutions is seeking a Claims Auditor to handle the following:
  • Invoice what was actually received and match the applicable purchase order or contract.
  • Identify duplicate invoices, incorrect vendor information, unsupported expenditures, and discrepancies.
  • Verify invoices for accuracy, authorization, appropriate dates, descriptions, and amounts.
  • Confirm sufficient budget availability before claims are approved.
  • Review consultant and professional-service invoices for compliance with applicable contracts.
  • Determine whether expenditures are appropriate, reasonable, properly supported, and authorized.
  • Verify quotes and bids comply with New York State General Municipal Law and District procurement policies.
  • Review requests for proposals, competitive procurement documentation, and applicable Board authorizations.
  • Approve, sign, and date compliant vouchers after completion of the required review.
  • Communicate denied or questioned claims to Accounts Payable, Procurement, and appropriate District personnel for resolution.
  • Work collaboratively with District staff to resolve claims issues and improve payment processes.
  • Prepare and submit monthly claims audit reports identifying processes reviewed and operational concerns.
  • Prepare quarterly reports summarizing warrant amounts and audit findings, with additional monthly reporting when requested.
  • Present audit findings and reports to the Board of Education and attend applicable audit committee meetings.
  • Perform other claims-auditing responsibilities assigned by the Board of Education.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of audit experience.
  • Experience as a School District or BOCES Claims Auditor strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of public-sector financial operations, including:
    • Accounts Payable
    • Accounting
    • Procurement
    • Voucher and invoice auditing
    • Contract compliance
    • Financial controls
  • Knowledge of New York State public-school procurement requirements.
  • Familiarity with New York State General Municipal Law Sections 103 and 104-b.
  • Understanding of Board of Education policies, competitive bidding, quotes, RFPs, contracts, and purchasing procedures.
  • Experience reviewing financial documentation for accuracy, authorization, substantiation, and compliance.
  • Wincap experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with school district personnel.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of financial, payroll, personnel, purchasing, and vendor information.
