Job Summary

The University of Michigan School of Nursing (UMSN) is a vibrant community of scholars, educators, clinicians, and innovators embedded within one of the world's leading public research universities. Consistently ranked among the nation's top nursing schools, we are committed to advancing health and health equity through research, education, leadership, and service. Our faculty generate knowledge that improves lives, informs policy, strengthens healthcare delivery, and addresses pressing local and global health challenges.

The UMSN invites applications for a full-time, 12-month clinical track faculty position beginning in the 2027-2028 academic year. We seek accomplished clinical scholars with a strong background in nursing practice, demonstrated expertise in a practice role, and a proven record of teaching and scholarship. Faculty will be responsible for didactic and/or clinical instruction in the following undergraduate specialty areas:

  • Behavioral Health Nursing
  • Medical-Surgical Nursing
  • Obstetrics Nursing
  • Pediatric Nursing

All undergraduate courses are delivered in person. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in clinical education, healthcare delivery, and student mentorship. Preference will be given to applicants with active clinical engagement and a passion for integrating practice, teaching, and scholarship.

Required Qualifications*

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctorate in Nursing.
  • A nursing license in the State of Michigan is required for this position (current licensure or willingness to obtain licensure).
  • Demonstrated excellent communication, networking and relationship building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in the development and implementation of innovative curricular activities.
  • Demonstrated clinical teaching ability and practice excellence in a defined relevant area of clinical expertise.
  • Current clinical experience in a practice relevant role.
  • Evidence of increasing service to the profession and academic community.
  • Collaborates with faculty regarding visionary educational programs.
  • A record of scholarly attainment including publications, evidence-based practice guidelines and other forms of scholarship.
  • Prior to the start date must be compliant with all health requirements including standard precautions such as Basic Life Support (BLS) certification,orientations, licenses/certifications, policies, and procedures both internal and external to the University for your assigned classroom(s) and/or clinical site(s).
