Responsibilities
The Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily program operations for their assigned site(s) to include DME inventory tracking and analysis, DME fitting, DME patient education, DME documentation management, and DME billing. This position is responsible for providing superior customer service and onsite management of orthopedic DME supplies.
  • Provides onsite management of outpatient orthopedic clinic's Durable Medical Equipment program.
  • Manages the ordering, documentation, and data entry of durable medical equipment and related supplies under the supervision of physicians and practice administrators.
  • Establishes and monitors inventory of orthopedic DME.
  • Conducts proper on-site patient fitting and patient education of all DME.
  • Manages DME precertification and preauthorization requests.
  • Tracks and organizes necessary paperwork to facilitate insurance billing of DME.
  • Educates clinic staff members and providers on proper DME policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Education Required:
  • High school graduate or equivalent

Experience Required:
  • DME experience preferred
  • One to three years of experience in a fast-paced outpatient clinic setting
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • One to three years of experience in prior authorizations, particularly in DME or rehabilitation preferred
