Job description


Caesars Entertainment is seeking a motivated Data Protection Engineer to support the Cybersecurity Data Protection program. This role assists with the implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of data protection capabilities used to identify, classify, monitor, and protect sensitive data across the enterprise.
The Engineer will work under the guidance of Lead and Principal Data Protection Engineers to support Microsoft M365 security controls, data loss prevention technologies, data discovery and classification activities, incident support, reporting, and compliance-related evidence collection.
This is an execution-focused engineering role intended for a developing data protection professional who can operate in a complex enterprise environment, follow established standards, document work clearly, and grow into broader technical ownership over time.
Responsibilities
  • Data Protection Platform Support: Assist with the administration, monitoring, and maintenance of data protection and DLP platforms, including routine configuration updates, operational validation, and documentation of issues or changes.
  • Microsoft 365 Security Controls: Support the implementation, testing, and ongoing operation of Microsoft 365 data protection controls, helping identify potential exposure risks and escalating findings for review.
  • Data Discovery & Classification: Assist with the discovery, classification, and analysis of sensitive data across enterprise repositories, documenting coverage gaps, data risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Data Incident Support: Support data-related incident response activities by assisting with alert review, evidence gathering, investigation support, and documentation of findings.
  • Data Protection Controls Implementation: Implement and test approved data protection controls, validate expected operation, and document results, exceptions, and operational issues.
  • Endpoint & Network Data Protection: Support endpoint and network data protection initiatives by assisting with control deployment, monitoring, tuning activities, and collection of operational metrics.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to operational improvements through documentation updates, workflow optimization, automation support, and identification of recurring issues.
  • Reporting & Metrics: Assist with the collection, validation, and preparation of program metrics, KPI reporting, and management reporting deliverables.
  • Compliance & Audit Support: Support compliance and audit activities by gathering evidence, maintaining documentation, tracking remediation efforts, and following established handling procedures for sensitive information.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with cybersecurity, IT, and business partners to support assigned initiatives while maintaining clear documentation and timely communication of risks, issues, and recommendations.

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in enterprise technology, cybersecurity, infrastructure, systems administration, or a related technical role.
  • 1-2+ years of exposure to data protection, DLP, information security, Microsoft 365 security, compliance, or related technologies.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, data handling practices, and sensitive data protection principles.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, endpoint security, data classification, or DLP concepts.
  • Ability to follow documented procedures and operate within defined change, incident, and escalation processes.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex enterprise environment with changing priorities.

Preferred
  • Exposure to data loss prevention, data discovery/classification, SIEM, endpoint security, or cloud security platforms.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, NIST, or similar standards.
  • Experience supporting audit evidence collection, operational reporting, or security metrics.
  • Basic scripting, automation, or data analysis experience.
  • Microsoft security, cybersecurity, or cloud-related certifications preferred but not required.
