Job description

Overall Job Summary

This position is responsible for managing all operational and team member aspects of a traveling 7-person district Field Activity Support Team (FAST) whose duties include executing planograms and physical inventories, as well as providing support for merchandise and fixture assembly, and the maintenance of all signage.  Primary duties include building the team, leading execution of company merchandising and inventory standards, and interacting with customers and team members, while providing legendary customer service.  This position is also responsible for promoting a safe and productive work environment for all Team Members, customers, and vendors, as well as training Team Members on the appropriate application of policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

As an Unassigned District FAST Supervisor, it is essential that you be available, flexible, adaptable and service-oriented, as you must be able to fulfill all of the following requirements:

  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance. 
  • Work scheduled shifts and have the ability to work varied hours, days, and nights as dictated by business needs.  
  • Uphold and promote a safe and productive work environment by following and enforcing policies and procedures. 
  • Build the district Field Activity Support Team (FAST). This includes hiring/staffing decisions, Team Member retention, Team Member training and development, succession planning, Team Member performance reviews and counseling, and maintaining a safe and productive work environment. 
  • Create/manage the schedule and payroll management.  This includes scheduling the team's travel to specified stores, the work performed by the FAST Team Members while in those stores, timeframes spent by the team in stores, building an effective team to work together, including the number of FAST Team Members required to complete tasks. 
  • Lead execution of Tractor Supply Company standards. This includes merchandising and inventory standards/processes, merchandise and fixture assembly, signage maintenance, as well as planning and delegation of daily tasks.
  • Communicate proactively and regularly with the Regional FAST Manager on project status, obstacles to completion, and offer solutions to overcome.
  • Provide recommendations to and partner with the Regional FAST Manager on process changes and enhancements. 
  • Support the District Manager in achieving overall merchandising goals for the District. 
  • Maintain regular communication with the District Manager and Store Managers regarding your team's planned activities within the district, as well as any progress and/or challenges.
  • Put the customer first when approached and provide legendary customer service while in store through the use of GURA:
    • Greet the Customer 
    • Uncover the Customers' needs 
    • Recommend products 
    • Ask for the Sale 
  • This position is required to perform a combination of the following duties during their day. Although the mix may vary from one day to another, our business and staffing model makes it essential that every Unassigned District FAST Supervisor be able to perform all of the following FAST Team Member duties accurately, efficiently and safely on a regular basis and without advance notice:
    • Complete planograms and resets accurately and in a timely manner
    • Maintain visual merchandise standards
    • Perform store specific measurements
    • Complete store layout initiatives
    • Perform accurate counts for store inventories, as well as cycle counts
    • Complete Tractor Way top cap process
    • Hang store signage
    • Assemble merchandise, fixtures and PDQs
    • Perform detailed recovery and review planogram integrity
    • Provide peak coverage as needed (E.g., DAT)
  • District FAST Supervisor may also be required to perform other duties as assigned. 
Required Qualifications

Experience:   5 years of retail and/or merchandising experience.  2 years of retail leadership and/or merchandising leadership experience is required.  Profit/Loss, scheduling, shrink control, payroll management, staffing, hiring, supervising and counseling experience is required.  Farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is strongly preferred. Any combination of education and experience will be considered.  Must possess a valid driver's license.

Education:  High School diploma or the equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field preferred. Regardless of education level, you must be able to read, write and count accurately.

Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
  • Ability to perform and execute principle responsibilities of FAST Team Members. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and customers. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.
  • Ability to be forklift certified. 
     
Working Conditions
  • Working environment is favorable, generally working inside with moderate noise.
  • Indoor floors and outdoor lots generally are hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc.) lighting and temperature are adequate.
  • Work shifts vary from one store to another, but generally are no less than 4 hours and may exceed 10 hours
  • Traveling between store locations in your personal vehicle is required; often with long periods of time
  • Promote a safe and productive work environment for Team Members and customers and adhere to Company safety training and guidelines
Physical Requirements
  • This position is non-sedentary.
  • It is essential that you have the physical and mental stamina and ability to move throughout the distribution center and outdoor areas quickly and safely.
  • Team members must have the physical and mental ability to perform all of the following tasks (with or without reasonable accommodation):
  • Ability to travel as required in support of district needs.
  • Ability to move and transfer merchandise, weighing up to 50 pounds, throughout the store.
  • Ability to push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with the assistance of proper material handling equipment (e.g. pallet jack).
  • Ability to occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead.
  • Ability to frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders.
  • Ability to move throughout the store for an entire shift.
  • Ability to safely access all areas of the store including selling floor, side lot, stock area, and register area.
  • Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run a store (e.g. dolly, handtruck, forklift, baler, computer, cash register) (forklift and baler requirements do not apply if under the age of 18).
  • Ability to constantly operate store equipment such as computer, cash register, and other store equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, and count accurately to complete all documentation.
  • Ability to utilize strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with team members and customers.
  • Ability to handle and be in contact with birds/poultry.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required training.
